TX has executed Mr Brewer, may he rest in peace. My thoughts are with his loved ones and friends. The story is here.

yet another case where the State killed the man despite the desire of the victim's family that it not happen.

Words from the victim's son:
"You can't fight murder with murder," Ross Byrd, 32, told Reuters late Tuesday, the night before Wednesday's scheduled execution of Lawrence Russell Brewer for one of the most notorious hate crimes in modern times.
"Life in prison would have been fine. I know he can't hurt my daddy anymore. I wish the state would take in mind that this isn't what we want."

I think it was rather interesting that the victim's son opposed his execution. I am 100% opposed to it, but if it were personal like that, I'm not sure I could exercise such restraint. After all, what he did to his father was absolutely horrendous!

Anyway, thoughts and prayers to the families of all involved.
