Default NO To Give Early Parole On Low-Risk Offenders

Department Of Correction Say Jail Costs Are Increasing



NEW ORLEANS -- Statistics said one out of every 55 people in Louisiana is behind bars, making it the state with the highest incarceration rate in the U.S.State lawmakers recently passed a bill to make low-risk offenders eligible for parole earlier in their sentences.In 2012, the state said it will spend $663 million to house those inmates. So to save money, it said more convicts are going to be paroled.
