Default Lewis vs. Yuma

My bf just got transferred today from Lewis to Yuma. I know he hated Lewis, so does anyone know if Yuma is any better? Any comparisons - good or bad - between the two? I'm so discouraged tonight...he was just sentenced on Oct 4 and I'm still pending my visitation. I heard transfers can delay the process. Lewis is 45 min from me where Yuma is 3.5 hours. Why can't any of this just be easy??? Tears.

I hate to break the bad news to you, I believe you may have to reapply for visitation. I hope I am wrong on this...but it is my understanding that once you are approved, your paperwork follows, but if you are still in the application process, you may have to reapply to the new yard.

I can tell you, my Paulie was in Yuma for the first 6 months. It's a drive, but I really didn't mind. I was there, just about every other week. He has since be transferred to Tucson, and I am much happier with the drive.

In the beginning, Paul was OK with Yuma, but depending upon the yard, it's just so damn hot in the summer. Paul was in Cheyenne, and they do not have a/c. But Cibola and La Paz have a/c. The rec yard at Cheyenne was nice, with a decent soft ball field and a nice running area. The rec yard in Tuscon does not have a ball field and I think he misses that. I know Cocopah is also a nice little yard with grass and trees, which I never visited, but always drove by and 'admired' .

Visits were easy in Yuma, and there are plenty of women that head down there, I think you could easily find a few people to car pool with. There is also a decent little hotel (Yuma Cabana) that is cheap and clean.

Hope that helps.
