Default In what type of instance would a "special session" be called?

Could this ever be possible?

Do you mean a reconsideration of a parole denial? There is such a thing as a Special Review but it only applies in very narrow circumstances. From the standpoint of an inmate, a Special Review will only be conducted if he/she can make a case that, in the process of making their decision, the parole panel or board made an error of law or of board rule.

As Royce pointed out, there has to be evidence that a special review is merited for the re consideration of a parole decision handed out. During my time inside as well as out here on parole, I’ve rarely seen it happen. Special reviews do take place, but a lot of times you’ll see prisoners who even though disagree with a parole decision or may even have grounds for a special review, not be granted one because there’s not enough evidence to change anything in the eyes of the parole board.

When all the hoopla from the laws that did pass legislature, I remember someone saying we'd have to wait til next session but I also remember seeing someone say unless a special session was called.

As far as I know, only the TX Governor can call a Special Session of the TX Legislature. Unfortunately, I don't see Perry calling a Special Session for anything to do with the prison system.

Well, I got a good laugh at myself when I came back to this thread. As Renee wrote, it is the governors prerogative to call a special session but there must also be a reason to do so. Actually, this past session ended in a special session because the Texas congress hadn't finished their business by the end of the regular session.
