Default My first prison visit today.12/31/11

It was different to say the least. ....
I drive up, 1st in line outside the gates, got there 30 min early, since i didn't know what to expect .
The gaurd comes out and rudely tells me I'm too close and i need to back my car up and wait for his signal to move up.
Finally he singles me to drive forward and i do, i fill out my paper work he searchs my car and gives me directions to the visiting area.
Whew .....! Finally in!
The fun begins, all the gaurds are straight faced and seriously rude!
They know its our first time there and not one of them was kind enough to give us rules or explain anything !
It was kind of scary and strange, but finally there he stood waiting...my husband! The visit was so worth it!
He looked great and i was so excited to see him!
We had the best visit in like forever!!!!!!
My husband so handsome and adorable, lol
Tomorrow i get another visit, thank God!

Happy right now!

Congrats on your visit...it's a shame the guards were so rude, but it seems like you didn't let it ruin your visit.

Not sure in Federal, but my husband is still in county awaiting his transfer and the Warden was kind enough to give us ONE contact visit prior to his departure, it was the most amazing experience. To feel his arms around me, his lips on mine. that was coming in, then the duration of that one hour, we held hands, i scratched his forearm gently like I have always done, then leaving, I must have kissed him 10 times, I kissed his neck, we held a hug for a good 30 seconds. Doesn't seem like much, but when you haven't touched your man for 6 months, it was heaven to me... That was Tuesday and I'm STILL smiling

It was through glass visit; ( but from what i learnd we should have be able to have contact once he is placed in a level, right now he is in RDC, contact visit consist of a hug and kiss hello and goodbye. And holding hands during the visit.
I live in new mexico and compared to other states nm is not as strict!

Oh I know when it comes to where you park & when you line up and this and that they are pretty strict. My husbands mom had to move her car 3 times her first visit it was crazy. Luckily I knew her experiance otherwise I probably would have been moving my car a bunch too.. That sucks the guards were so rude to you, the guard at the desk was pretty nice he didn't have a conversation with us or anything...he was just nice I guess. The other letting us in the visiting room was talking about how far we drove where we were from & how he vacations near us..& about my friend going to school for criminal justice..so we had a good experiance with all that. Hopefully the next time you go the CO's will be a bit nicer....But all of this trouble standing in the cold, the parking issues, all of it is sooo worth it once you get to see your husband
Have a good visit today!!

Awwwwwwww, thanks for sharing with us!! I am flying to Montana to see my husband. I haven't seen him since Oct.17th. Hoping I will get to see him before January 19th. He will have been in reception for 90 days by then, waiting for him to get moved out to population. Just reading your post makes me excited to see my husband. I can't wait to see him standing there.
