Default Resources for Ex Offenders in NC

OK I Have noticed a concern for job resources etc for ex offenders here in NC - although I dont know of many myself I thought maybe we could start a sticky thread and as someone found one or something new not already listed in the thread we could add to it - which will help us ALL out !!! So what I am going to do is list the ones that I have and hope that others will come along and list some they have or know of and the list will continue to grow over time! We also have an employment forum here on PTO which you might want to check out as well - but the purpose of this thread is to make it specifically for the NC area!!!

http://www.doc.state.nc.us/transitio.../resources.htm

http://www.hirenetwork.org/

The top one is the DOC website job source link for NC the HIRE network has a NC link as well - both are really good resources I have checked into them!!

Thanks Kelly, I appreciate you doing this sticky since I was the one who posted about the jobs.. Some of the info I have received were transition programs for ones incarcerated in NC, which is helpful for those in the NC system. My man is coming out of Florida prison and hoping to move to NC so we are looking for certain employers that take Ex Offenders. I know that it will not be an easy task at first for our loved one's to find a job, but I agree maybe we all can come together and help each other out.. Thanks again for putting this out there..

Kellie

there are 3 employers that i know of in the montgomery and moore county area. GTL, Pee Dee Plant, and Holmes Builder Systems. These companies hire offenders currently on the work release program.

Fayetteville area? We are hoping for him to parole out to NC or worst a hwh. He says he will 12 12 before getting out in Missouri. I have my church here willing to help us along and write letters etc. But a job lined up would be beneficial.

Thanks for ideas!

Palm Harbor Homes and Schultz in Stanly County hire felons. They are manufactured home plants.

Rosr Mary, you may want to try Klaussner in Asheboro. I know they laid off a lot but my sister told me last night that they were opening up another plant now.

I would call Job Link and ask them. Also, I utilized the Transitioning Services through Raleigh to find some info for my husband. We're right next to Randolph.

Hey guys,
If anyone has a ex-convict in need of a job near the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area, contact me. My plant hires ex-cons (Hell, they hired me and even promoted me). Please, and I mean PLEASE don't contact me if the person you're trying to find a job for isn't trying to stay out. The plant wants to Americanize the work force there but, not bad enough to hire anyone who still gets high or drunk. I can't use anyone who needs a job so that maybe it'll help them straighten up. They need to be already serious about doing right. It doesn't take but a few screw-ups to spoil this opportunity for others who really can benefit from a job. You can PM me or contact Niightdrmr and she'll relay the message to me. Thanks and good luck to all. Peace.

Default hire ex cons/name of business

Hi I have a really close friend that will be getting out this year and he will be looking for a job. He has four children and is determined to work hard I would love to know the name of your company so we can look you up when he is released. Please respond back to this email and let me know the name and number to your blessed business. Thank you so much for thinking about people that have fallen in life and made some poor decisions but want to get back into society and do the right things. We all make mistakes and yet people take chances on us all the time. God bless you and I pray you will email me back.

A Friend of an ex con

I'd love some info too....if the thread comes back to life.

My bf's release date is Oct 8, 2010. He needs something in Davidson County (or surrounding area). As a RSO, he will have a difficult time finding work, so he'll be open to just about anything.

He's built websites, done sales for automotive products, is an excellent cook, has done some auto racing, is getting into dog training, amateur (but very talented) photography......

Max I wish this post wasn't a year old I could use some help myself. I have a felony I've been out for 2 years I had a job in the oilfield, got laid off, but then ended up out in north carolina (probation transfered) but I've had no luck out here finding a job.

Hey, Max: I was just released last week and am looking for a job. I am not getting high or drunk, just want to work and take care of my son. Please let me know how I can talk to you.

Smile looking for work

Hi, My name is Martell Murphy.
I have never been in prison but I was in Jail for 45 days. Now that I have a criminal background it is hard for me to find work. I have no felonies just misdemeanors. I am 21 years old, I don't drink or do drugs, and I don't have any kids. I just want to work. Can you help me?

My bf just got out 2 weeks ago, he is looking for a job in the Cleveland county...or Charlotte area. He is a RSO, please, any help for a job at this point would be appreciated. He is a hard worker and NOT trying to go back. He also would not be picky.
