Default Winter in Pendleton? How are the roads and snow?

My honey is currently in EOCI & I'm contemplating a visit next month, does anyone know how the weather is around that time? When does the snow usually hit? Thanks ;-)

Depends where you're traveling from. From Eastern Oregon you have to check ODOT mt. passage, if you're coming from the top then you should be good to go. I don't recall the snow ever being too bad in Pendleton. EOCI is the best place to visit; the closeness is wonderful.

I moved to pendleton 2 years ago and last year was pretty icy at times (I wrecked..) but the year before wasn't bad. Driving on purely the flat parts of the town, which you probly will be, you should be fine.. But every year is different. sometimes they do close down I-84, so like Tuya said, check the road reports. The upside of visiting in the winter is there is hardly anyone here, so it's pretty quiet.

Will you be driving up or flying? Because that will make a difference. Pendletin is not that bad, but coming from someone who has already see 5 inches of snow fall in her yard since Thursday, most anyplace would be better, lol!

It's not as bad as you think. I did check ODOT and their website shows pictures of what it looks like up there. It's great to have. I was terrified because I"m south west of I-5 in Oregon, near Eugene and it's icy here, my car slips and slides. Once I got to Pendelton it was very snowy and my car didn't slip once. The snow was different powdery and my car was fine on it.

I agree. I would much rather drive in 10inches of snow than any ice.

The ODOT cams are a blessing, because then you can really see if there is snow, temps, etc.
