First parole review? Help!

Ok, I am still totally new at this and it's taking a while for all of it to sink in. forgive me if I'm not asking the right question under the right forum or not...I just need help!. My husband was sentenced 10-27-2011. 8yrs, non agg s/o charge. He just recently (3-1-12) caught chain from county to TDC. According to TDC website his PED is 7-31-12. I read somewhere on here that his file goes to review stays 6 months prior to PED.What do I need to do to help make his review successful?? His attorney will be filing a motion for shock probation that he is eligible for,but I want to make sure and be prepared,in the event that doesn't pull through. My husband is a first time offender..can anyone give me some insight on the parole process? The likeliness of him being granted the first time up? I know I spoke to someone before who gave me inspiration on saying it is possible. I know each case varies...but someone give me encouragement. Real talk..good or bad..slap some sense into me before I go nuts!! Thanks for letting me vent!!
