Question Hazleton, a medical facility?

Hello everyone,
My man was just designated to be transferred to Hazleton USP, the reason being, so they say, is for medical reasons. He has heart problems and high blood pressure, and Big Sandy doesn't have the necessary medical equipment for him in case of a medical emergency. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if Hazleton is even a medical facility. I've did a little research and it doesn't appear to be any different than Big Sandy, other than the female inmates. Because of this transfer, my man will have to start over to earn his time towards the 18 months required for a request to transfer to a facility closer to home in San Diego California. He's already did close to a year at Big Sandy. Any information will be appreciated. Thank You

I was in the Womens Prison there, and the men's prison WAS not a medical unit...that prison is a max and is on lockdown alot...Im sorry for the negative response, but he shouldn't be there, unless it has changed in 1 year!

No need to apologize. I appreciate your honesty. But could you give me a possible reason you might have why they would be transferring him for medical reasons if that isn't the case. if this has happened to anyone else, or someone you know, I would appreciate any feedback.

Hazelton is not a "medical facility" but that doesn't mean that what they're telling him is not true.

Default Medical

While Hazelton is not a federal medical center, it is relatively close to the West Virginia University School of Medicine(~30-45 minutes.) I am aware of several from Hazelton who have received treatment there. I do not know if that was a random occurrence, or if the BOP is using the proximity of the medical school as a reason to transfer those with advanced medical needs to Hazelton.

That doesn't make sense to me. I don't think they are medically equipped. My dad is at the camp there and his bunk mate had a heart attack and they did take him to the hospital... but then there was talk of transferring him to the camp in NC that has a medical center. He hasn't been transferred yet. They are about 30 mins from the University of West Virginia Hospital.
