I read a letter that a lady had sent her man in prison, that she will stand by him and she signed it and sent to him., for him to sign it and send it back to her. Like a letter of promise. This was about 2 months ago & now I can't find it, SO Please help me. If anyone esle saw, this awesome letter, let me know where to find it and by who. I want to send it to my soul mate our 1 year anniversary is comming up,& this letter would be the best to send him. I love this man with my heart & soul. Thanks Rod's Lady Kat

I found a site called poemhunter.com. There are all sorts of poems for different situations. I found a very gripping poem about hope, which a lot of people have appriciated so far.

I ussually start with "I am a PTO friend of...., she told me you could use extra mail". I tell something about my country, things that are happening in the world, something funny on the news. I sometimes Google "funny pictures" that might give something to talk about.

And I end the letter/card saying that I hope my words brought a litlle ray of light or a smile, and people from all over the world are thinking of you.

Good luck! Kirsty

My first Card is (freebie yay)St.Patrick Day's card for a person who has name begins P

You know what I wrote,mostly.
at least,he knows I love to say stupid things :P
Best wishes for him is hiding inside joke.
Only works for the day and who sharing same firstname..

as "This year, you got P lastname's good day card"

Mmmmmm.I found it's silly again.

As he is already my friend and this can be used for only one first name, ans so stupid,
=not so useful.
I think he got this type's joke too many time till now.All in St.Patrick's Day.

And I'm planning for this project,to write word of encouragement in Kanji,
After I check "Foreign language is permitted or not"(You may know some prison only allows English)

Another "not for everyone"idea,sorry..

You know, that is one thing I never thought about... that if prisons would let foreign languages in or not? That's a good question

Yeah, this is something I have to think about, because even I have only one friend (in Texas)in prison, but many outside people asks about Japanese culture..(include many things I don't know)
I saw "Alive"website had lists state-by-state regulation list,(because it's based germany)and for Texas,no regulation about it.
But now I cannot find information..some other states had"English Only"regulation.so I have to search or hope they thinks kanji as just a figure.

I have a question, in the terms and conditions some states you can't mention the Internet is where you got their info. So do all the inmates know what PTO is?

When I enter someone in a swap I am the one resposable to tell him what's going on. So when you write you can say something like: "I am a friend of Kirsty's" (okay you live in australia and I live in the Netherlands LOL) But most recepeints will understand.
Or sometimes people ask to pass on a message: "Kirsty in the Netherlands says hi".

But some of us are "just" friends, wife, mother, sister etc. Sometimes it says that with the address: "To my friend...." What you think is suitable.
If you have any questions please do let me know/ or PM me. Once you get the hang of it there's no way of stopping ;-)
Take care.

Thank you for posting this thread! This is my first time participating in a card swap and I was so unsure of what to write. I know how important it is for them to get mail and I wanted to do something nice!

Is it okay to include Bible verses? I don't want to offend anyone if they are from another religion but I just find certain verses encouraging regardless of who/what/anything you believe in. Any thoughts?

I often include an inspiring or uplifting quote from the Bible and I also sign God Bless in my cards unless I have specific instructions from the OP about their religion.

I don't think there's any problem at all with including bible verses. I, personally, refrain from sending anything religious at all just because I have no idea what faith the guys/gals are that I'm sending cards to is. Inspirational quotes... funny jokes... stuff like that is usually what i stick to.

Hi,did I post about colored paper or color marker on this thread?(I guess so)

Many prison doesn't permit colored paper or colored marker,I found a reason(in TX)
from an inmate's online journal.(which is now not online, only webarchive keeping it)

He wrote in 2007,"Colored paper will be not permitted because we dye clothes with them".in 2007,the rule was once withdrawn (according to him)but now it's not permitted.

That's because TDCJ's prison clothes are White.and one escepee actually dyes the cloth to Green, and made a Scrub.
So,for TDCJ or other place using White prison clothes,we'd better not use colored one.I guess.Especially, who you write is considered "Escape risk".

I like the way Tina signes her cards ("mother of...")

I usually write: Kirsty in the Netherlands
But I do not want to raise any unwanted expectations, so I thought to say: MRS Kirsty S. (geese, that sounds old I am only 37 :-) )
Or family S.

I had one person suggesting I was unhappily married since I wrote him, wrong we're very happy.
Any suggestions??
Thanks!

In parts of the Southern US, it's considered polite for a person to call another person Mr. [first name] or Mrs./Miss/Ms. [first name] if they know them well enough that formal last names would be awkward but first-name-only would be too intimate a greeting.

So how about "Ms. Kristy from The Netherlands"? Using "Ms." doesn't denote marital status. Then again, maybe it just means half of them will think you're unhappilly married and the other half will form unwanted expectations

I'm "retired"from marriage long ago,so I'm nearly "scared" giving guys I don't know well unwanted expection.

And I hope If I honestly use "Miss" for me,anyone remember a movie"driving miss Daisy"? XD(just kidding.)
