Divorce after 77 years of marriage

I find this so, so sad!

A furious 99 year old man is divorcing his wife of 77 years after he discovered she had an affair more than 60 years ago.
The couple, who have been identified only as Antonio and Rosa, have both consulted lawyers and the first hearing in the case is due to take place in March.
Jealous father-of-five Antonio saw red after he discovered dust covered romantic letters from his wife to her secret lover during a clear out of their apartment in Rome.

This reminds me of my parents, although they divorced after "only" 40 years or so and the affair my father allegedly had while in his early seventies (!) was recent (his son caught him with a woman and saw his phone bills, too, and told mom). My parents were, in fact, living in different cities and my father bought a condo where he was living (my mother had her own, already paid off out of my father's money). It was not the first time they were living separately, but he was a professional who used to move around to wherever work was available without taking his family with him. Although dysfunctional, the family was still in touch and living together at times (in fact, in his twenties, my brother moved in with my father for a while and my father would visit my mother or she would visit him). Still, if, for all intents and purposes, he was already separated, yet with no intention to divorce, or so he says, it is not surprising that he may indeed have seen someone while in his city. What can I say? Weird things happens in other families, too, although usually not after 77 years.

Wow, when I saw the title of the thread, I thought the 77 must be a typo!!
I can't imagine LIVING for 77 years, nevermind being MARRIED for 77 years!!
