Default CJC or Sheriff's Dept in Colorado Springs

I was wondering if anyone has a loved one at the Criminal Justice Center Jail in Colorado Springs? with the lovely closed circuit TV (and pricey collect calls only)..I am so used to the, dare I say, "priviliges" he had at CDOC the last few years. He was moved to CJC for a retrial which is a good thing. However, they must send home all his DOC belongings that he acquired over the past 4 years since they can have basically nothing at CJC including boxershorts! Its just soo frustrating. Even my man says CDOC was better. He was at a medium level facility; had his own TV, books, magazines, sweats, socks, good shoes etc and work which was something to do even at 60 cents a day!..at CJC they have to purchase their own boxers, socks and shoes...or they go bare foot in plastic slides! Some guys have no boxers etiher and go free in the ornage jumpsuits-its soo wrong! They can only play cards and watch the occasional "community" TV....I am just so frustrated with all the collect calls at 20.00 per 15 min, no contact visits and legal bills. Its so hard..I live out of state so its barely worth it to drive 8 hours for a 30 min TV visit; though I have done it!...I feel like we are going through everything we went through with the first trial, 4 years ago. If he is sent back..we will have to re-purchase the TV everything etc..they sent all that home since technically he was released by DOC and the "rearrested" by county for the new trial! UGH!!! Sorry I just needed to vent..

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. But yea CJC is just a county jail so no they don't have all the privilages that CDOC has. The jail is so over packed here it's not even funny anymore. It's sick...not too mention they just rebuilt the other county jail so they have had to house all inmates in one jail. I wish I had something comforting to tell you but I don't. Just know that you will get through this...but yea county jail here sucks...and it has only gotten worse since I have had to deal with it. Good luck to you and yours.

Hey. I'm April. And I'm new to this whole thing. But my boyfriend is also in Colorado Springs CJC and hates it. He can't wait to get back to prison to finish his sentence b/c he says county time there sucks! Isn't it horrible to rather be in prison?

I've tried viewing many pictures people have posted but I never can. It tells me I don't have access. Aren't they public posts? Anyone offer any help??

Default I know

My fiance is at CJC so I completely know what you mean. Call 1800-844-6591, its the Correction Billing Serice. They can set up the calls for you so that they are 2.35 for 15 mins. And the worst part about it is for them to watch tv they have to purchase the headphones there and recieve the actual sound on a radio station! The one benifit if you live here in the springs is you can visit every other day, so if definately cuts down the huge phone bills. My fiance used to be in Adams County, I was only allowed to see him once a week, and the calls were about 3.5 but they had alot more options about filling there time then CJC. Its definately rough so good luck.

Hi
I to am out of state 1,500 miles so I KNOW the frusturation you are going through. My son is in CJC and you're right on target about having to purchase everything all over again!!They took everything from my son as well and he's 'going free under jumpsuit' as well.
I hope you weren't shocked to find out your man was charged a 30.00 'processing fee' when he got there--so IF there was any money transfered with him 30.00 taken off right off the top--
I didn't know that and was sending my son mere pennies for the commissary only to find out they 'took it for processing--he owed them from day one.
Telephone service--good luck on that one--I haven't talked to my son since Dec 15th when he was being booked--can't afford the awful rates--ofcorse you know DON'T GO THRU MCI OR CORRECTIONAL BILLING--talk about a scam--is it ever? There are two that have better rates but the pre-paid hook up fee AND the connect fee each call can get steep.1-Prison Call Online advertised here and2-
outsideconnection.com (they are cheaper than the first one but I still can't afford it due to the distance.)
Stay strong--it will get better--or so I hear I'm a newbie to PTO and finding my wings

Considering that this is a county jail, I think you are very limited as to who the phone operator will be. They are FAR more limited in the county jails than in most Colorado prisons. Please keep in mind, if they are in a COUNTY facility...they are not YET property of the STATE...and when they become so, that all changes!

It`s very frustrating when my son calls and I can`t accept the call, and than I worry that he thinks i don`t want to talk to him. It`s hard enough being in jail, than a mother has to reject her son calling and worry that my son thinks we don`t want to talk to him which is not true,.
