Default Even with new structured sent. laws offender will do more than min?

I've been reading some articles online and they have been saying even with the new structured sentence laws in NC that most of the time the offender will do more than the required 100% of minimum maybe even the whole sentence? Someone plzz tell me this isn't true. I posted this same thread in another NC room but got no answers so I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight...

Hey Scotties Girl, In NC here too. Once they get to a certain classification and can begin working or taking classes they can earn time to get a reduced sentence. They can not earn anything more than their Min Sentence. He also has to behave and not get any infractions.......they will try whatever they can to accuse them of things....plus they make the inmates pay 10 bucks and take away other things from them such as phone use, canteen allowance, and others....

Thanks for your response, he activated his sentence witch was 6-8 months with.a 90 day credit correct me if I'm wrong but that would mean with 90 more days that would complete his minimum sentence? He's been locked up since March 29th witch makes 20 some days he's served and right now he's at a reception center Ans will get his green clothes in about a week. So during all the time he's already done that gives him no credit working towards his minimum? How much gain/ good time is possible to gain with a Max release date of 8/29/12 this whole situation confuses me.but I'm hoping to see him soon

they only start to earn gain time once they are able to start working. It was a good month and a half before my LO got his first job assignment. I think he said he gets 9 days credit.....but I am really clueless with all the policies regarding that. I have to wait till Jan when he gets out.....its killing me....he got 12 month min and 15 months max........I just keep myself busy in the mean time.

Yes, it depends on the amount of work like whether it's an easy job or a harder one that requires more work. And with the harder ones I think you can get a max. of 9 days good credit or gain time per month.
