Why would the probation people come talk to him?

So, my Babe signed what he thinks is a straight 3-year deal. Credit with time served and after 3 years served, he's done. No mention of probation after the 3 years. Not a split sentence - no 5 do 3 or anything. But yesterday someone from Savannah Probation came out to the jail to talk to him. They had this huge list of questions like does anyone in his family have a history of drug or alcohol problems, does he have a verifiable home address and phone number. Anybody have a clue what this could be about? Wouldn't I love it if they were just gonna put him on probation after diagnostics?!!

Well, to anwer my own post. Apparently it's the beginning of the diagnostics process and has nothing to do with probation. Huh.
