Default Answers please-is shoplifting considered a violent crime?

Hi I'm a 14 year old male who is 5'6 and 117 lbs. I got caught 2 days ago for having weed on me and shoplifting. Its my second time getting in trouble by the law. I have learning disabilities. I live-in Michigan. Since I 50% will be going, would I be in a cell by myself, is weed and stealing a violent crime?

Unless you used a weapon or threatened someone, I cant see how it would be.
Calm down, kiddo.
I do not know much about your state, but a shoplifting charge and a pot charge isnt considered violent.

Way to avoid this?
easy.
Stop shoplifting. Its really self destructive. (you know this)
Pot?
At your age, not a good idea. Lots of legal ways to have fun. Plus it messes up all the fun stuff.
Hang in juvenilescrewup.
(by the way......you have so much more chances to mess up. Why start now??)
Hope it all goes ok for you.

No. Unless physical harm has been done there was no violence.

Btw your user name is a little harsh on yourself. You are not a screw up. You are a human being.

I think you will be fine.
No better time than right now to turn your life around.
Being learning challenged does not mean you can't find something constructive to do with your life.
What do you enjoy (besides getting high and in touble)?
Don't think of yourself as a screw-up.Think of yourself as someone who is a child of the creator of heaven and earth and fearfully and wonderfully made.

Great. Non violent. I'm gonna get my ass kicked now? For being small and weak. I read online here that's how I find this site. Will I get raped while in? What will I wear? I'm not afraid. Im worried how I'll be treated.

What I get treated badly/different if my beliefs for supporting the America Nazi Party and KKK gets leaked to guards and inmates. Would that be a problem?

I highly doubt you will get beat up honestly. But I do understand why you would be concerned. If you do get locked up just make sure you dont start anything with anyone.

Technically it can still be considered a violent crime even if there was no physical harm done. My husband took a plea bargain for 1 count of criminal threats and that is a violent felony in ca.
Im pretty sure shoplifting isnt a violent crime in any state.

I'm not worried about stealing, im worried about the DRUGS the weed, more then anything. and also how will I contact family? How will I get trusted by the 17 year olds so I don't die? What do I talk about + what questions (if asked) do I answer and do not answer?

I was referring to the ops situation and wording it so that he could understand it but yes criminal threats will often be considered violent.

It isnt.

This is certainly a lot of questions for anyone to try to answer, but I would imagine it would depend on the amount of weed you had on you, and what the dollar amount you shoplifted. You didn't use a weapon or threaten anyone did you? Did you cause harm while shoplifting. Without knowing the exact crime and how it went down people can only give you their best guess as to what will happen. It seems like to me it is a wake up call for you to turn your life around before you get in the whole prison thing and do serious time. Unless you have tats signifying your affiliations with these parties, how would anyone know, your not going to announce it are you?

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get in trouble for the first time?
It seems like both of these offenses are punishable by the same amount of time and fines. 2,000 dollar fine and max 1 year in jail.

There did seem to be something called conditional discharge available, meaning a Judge could give you re-hab, community service etc.

Like I said, this is a slap on the wrist telling you to straighten up and fly right
Take this lesson and learn from it, stay in school and be the man you were meant to be. Best of Luck to you, if you need to talk pm me.

What did you get on that charge? Wasn't it a misdemeanor also punishable by three months or so or 500 dollar fine?

Well keep a positive attitude and hope for the best.
