Ohh there is also a $5 charge to send anything. Its the prisons way to eliminate violence over debt but honestly I don't think it will.

I sent the list to Paulie and he has crossed off everything he does NOT want, this way, I can order what he likes!

Also note Phase 1 can get a package every quarter. Phase 2 can get one every 2 months. And Phase 3 can get a package every month.

I still wish I could send good toothpaste, mouthwash, decent chapstick, good lotion, shampoo, conditioner...just the basics. All the crap they get in there is just crap and they get so little in quantity.

I agree. I wish I could send more than just the snacks. Do you know when the Quarter is up? like can i send another one in January or is it 3 months from the date i sent my last package?

also . . if his family sent one, not knowing i had already sent one will he get it? or will the prison return it?

I am pretty certain, that since you are ordering PER an inmate, they MUST keep track as to what and when the last order was. I believe there is a break down on the order sheet as to Phase 1, 2 and 3. I will get an order in this year, as a little bonus Holiday gift, just to see if he likes it. There is a good possibility that there will be a "run on it" since it's so new and I bet there will be a ton of "not available" screwed up orders.

MAKE sure you print up what you ordered and send it down to your loved one, so he knows what to expect. There are no surprises in the DOC. I always send book orders, etc to Paulie so he knows when it was order and when to expect it.

The secure pack is no different!! Probably even MORE important for the guys to know WHAT was ordered, so they aren't ripped off!!

I look at it this way...besides visits and phone calls, I think "store/commissary" is the most exciting thing in these guys lives. They get an opportunity to pick and chose what they like!! I know, even at visits, Paul has an opinion of what he likes and what he doesn't like in the vending machines!! Same goes with the "store". There are things that he just can't stand....either by way of taste or is so burned out on it, eating it day in and day out!!

So it's best to "not surprise them", but let them tell you what they like. Also some items have more "tradeable" value than others. Paul is always trading coffee for "prison art". Even though he does not drink as much coffee as he orders, he trades quite a bit of it for cards and envelopes for me! I just love him and want his ass home!!

Me too!! I hate this and just want him home but trying to make the best of it. I spent the blank order form to him and an extra for his cellie and told him to pick what he wants and mail it back so I can buy it online for him. Asked his opinion on phone calls and visits. We will do whatever he decides. I love him and miss him more and more everyday and I want to do the giftbox as another way to say and show him he IS loved and missed!!! I just want him back so bad....crying so I can barely see.... :'(

thanks, pauliesgirl, for reminding me that surprises, as fun as they are out here, are just not a good idea with the bs factor when dealing with azdoc. sucks, huh? anyway, since the month is almost up and dont have time to send the order form, i just placed an order for my guy based upon what i know he likes--we've been together for 23 years, i know him pretty well. i did, however, print out he invoice and mail it to him just so he knows what he should get.

here is my question, though....after i place my order i went ahead and downloaded the form and i noticed a few items on the downloaded form were not listed as choices when ordering online. i tried to go back and compare the two but since i had already placed an order it wont let me see the online catalog until my guy is eligible another package. has anyone else noticed this or know why?

MooreLover....you go to AZ packages.com and order from inmate secure packages. Up to $40...1 time a month to 1 time per quarter depending on his level.
