Default Intro--Oil&WaterAZ from Arizona

Hi. I joined PTO because the love of my life is going back to prison for possibly 10 years for a crime he didn't commit. It's very technical and complicated. We live in AZ and just recently got back together after splitting up when he was out. We both married other people because our relationship never had a chance the first time we were together. I lost all my friends because i fell in love with a "bad guy" or "criminal" and we ended up losing a baby 3 years ago after all of my friends who i grew up with turned their backs on me. I'm very much a snob in recovery i guess you could say My honey taught me the hardest life lesson ever which is sometimes beautiful people don't always come in a pretty little package adorned with a bow on top, with a college education, and six figure salary. I'm a ministers daughter and Hispanic and am a Sephardic Jew culturally. In AZ prisons are sadly very racially segregated so when my honey got out he still had friends that hated who I am in every way as well. We are like one another's exact contradiction to each others lives but, we just fell in love we couldn't help it.When we first saw each other it was like a magnet. Our families refer to us as "the modern day Romeo and Juliet" We both tried to fight our feelings after all we'd been through lost friends and losing a baby but 3 years later here we are back together and inseparable! This is the hardest thing that either one of us has had to face and it's even more difficult because my honey is going away for something he didn't do. He's had to make some really crappy and tough decisions because after all we've been through all he cares about is coming home to me. I joined because I need to talk to other people who understand that we don't choose who we love, and if you truly love your significant other when times get rough instead of running the other way like the majority, you draw near and closer to your spouse than before.

I'm sorry for what you guys are facing. Be strong and support each other through the tough times.

I'm glad you found PTO and I'm sure you will meet many people who are dealing with similar problems. We definitely want to help each other handle the difficulties of being apart.

Thank you for all the nice welcome posts. It makes me feel a little better. Things are lookin' up a little today. We got some really excellent news that we'd been praying/hoping for! My honey and I are going to be able to have contact visits. No more behind glass and video visits Small sighs of relief. I haven't touched him in over 3 years so, I am so happy Thanks again for all the warm welcomes.

Hi welcome to PTO! This site is so great and helpful, you have come to the right place. I am from AZ too (Phoenix). Thats awesome that you can have contact visits, that should make all of this a little easier to deal with.

Thank you. I am so happy I decided to join PTO finally. It's nice to relate. My sister just moved from Peoria area-PHX to Philadelphia I sure do hope so re:visits. I'm feeling grateful for this blessing that seem so little to anyone else outside of PTO but, it's nice to tell it to all of you who know TO US what HUGE BLESSING this can truly be. You're in Cali now I see? Doesn't Cali. allow "family" visits at some participating prisons? That would be nice maybe a little uncomfortable at first but definitely nice

Yes i moved here about 5 years ago. Yeah, CA allows family visits in some of the state prisons. My husband was in LA county jail though and we had 1 hour of non-contact visits every week.
