Default Son in Prison ~ Second time around

Hi All -
This is my return to the forums. My son was 19 when he went to prison for the first time (after a long jail stint). He now turned 21 in jail and was just transferred to a medium level security prison. He was only out six months when he fell back into criminal ways. He is not a hardened criminal - he is sweet, respectful and has a huge heart. Unfortunately, he is intrigued by doing things the easy way (this time it is a drug charge) and is very institutionalized. He knows the ins and outs of prison and what it takes to survive. There was no emotion from him when he talked about spending 3.5 years in prison. I'm praying this will be his last visit to prison, however, I can never say never. Best of luck to everyone here.

Wow, thanks for your post. I thought I was the only one going through this again. My son just got sentence to 10 years today and I am about to fall apart. I have heard that he will probably only serve 1/3, but last time he served all but 2 months. I am just so very thankful for my faith. And good luck to you.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. My son was in for 9 yrs. the 1st time.He went in at 19 He got out Sept.19,2011. Then 2 days before Christmas 2011 he was arrested for same thing, Burglary. Hes still in county but is facing either 2-20 or the 3 charges may be "stacked and he could get 60 yrs. I am numb most of the time but then I explode and am depressed for days. My husband keeps telling me he did it and knew better. Well duh! I know this but doesnt make losing him again to that hell hole called prison any easier. I am praying he may get another chance and get probation or rehab of some kind but I seriously doubt it. I hope you start having an easier time adjusting to your loss Devsmom. You and your son are in my prayers.
