Default I want to learn more about Native Americans

It's pretty much a self explanatory ad. I am of Navajo and Apache ancestry (and French), but don't have a Certificate of Blood or membership to a tribe. I would love to learn more about myself and my history but I don't have much to run on since I was adopted and I know my birth family but my siblings are scattered, my birth father is not around and my birth mother is mentally ill. I guess I just want a pen pal to talk to and learn more about Native American history in general and connect with someone in that way. Wasn't sure whether to post this in Pen Pal or Native American, so I hope this works.

I moved your thread to the Native American forum because the penpal ads is only for inmate ads. I am sure you will get some answers here

Sorry I misunderstood your thread. I suggest you browse the penpal ads as I am sure we have had native american inmates looking for friends.

I am Cherokee and I also have no blood work or membership with my tribe.

My Grandfather was a renegade and left the reservation and if he had went back, they would have killed him, so that is why none of his kids were ever registered.

If you want to get information on your heritage, go to the Mormon website, they will have genealogy there....and you can also check out Ancestry dot com....I am sure you have heard of them.

Good luck!

Peace~

Awesome! Thanks for the ideas, that's actually a great idea. I don't know why I never thought of Ancestry.com -__-

Away From You, one of the largest Native American websites that is specific for researching Native American geneaology is Access Geneology dot com then click the Native link. It has all of the North American (U.S. & Canada) tribes listed with tons of infomation on each tribe. I found one of my Eastern Cherokee grandfather's family that hadn't been enrolled on any of the census rolls using info I found on this website! It's great! Check it out!
