Ad-seg is short for administrative segregation. It is the hole.

My son was in the shu for a month then released back on to the yard at CMC West. He called and said he'd only be able to call once a month due to disciplinary restrictions. I haven't received any mail from him either. Can anyone give me any info on this type of restriction? Thanks

Default QUESTION: will being in the hole affect his release date?

My man got involved in a riot at a fire camp 2 Weeks ago... He's now in the hole in Centinela...this is the first time he's been in trouble this term. His release date was set for Dec... So is his release date affected??? Will he stay there until hes released or will he be sent to another camp?

Unless he got more time for the 115 No usually they just max him out. He will most likely parole from the hole.

I'm sorry.....i'm assuming a 115 is a riot? Lol i still haven't heard from him... but i got a call from another inmate at the camp where the riot occured and he said it had nothing to do with KY man he said they dont have a choice whether to participate in tbose... Which sounds stupid to me! Anyway... So if all is okay he'll be released from the hole in Dec?

In some 115's as long as they do not get in trouble again he can get his time back. When my husband was in a camp a few years ago he got a 115 and stayed out of trouble for 90 days and he got his time back and sent back to another camp. It depends what the committee says on the 115.

115 is a write up, it all depends on the type if write up he got. 115's are categorized by divisions and if he was taken to the hole, its a serious write up and I believe his time stops while he's there. I can double check but I believe that's what happens cause if they took him they found marks on him making him involved. I'll confirm this with you.

I did notice that in your original post here you did not ever mention a 115 (which is a write up) and because he is in the hole and if he actually recieved a 115 then the 115 would be a serious write up as another post reply implied.

Time doesn't necessarily stop while he is there (in the hole). Although it may seem like it for you and him....

But all of the other is true (115's are categorized by divisions and if he was taken to the hole, and ends up actually getting a 115 then it is a serious write up )

When inmates are sent to Administrative Segregation (the hole) their "work group" changes. Their Work group is what determines the amount/type of goodtime credit that can be earned. After research I am convinced that while they are in the hole no goodtime credit can be earned. For example if your loved one spends 30 days at fire camp he earns 2 days for each day there, so 30 days (at fire camp) + 60 (goodtime credit) = 90 days total. But while in the hole 30 days is 30 days no good time credit.

The 115 process is the inmate will have a 115 hearing, at the hearing he will either be found guilty or not guilty. If he is found guilty then the time he was in the hole will be "no goodtime credit status" If he is found not guilty then they will revert back to his previous work group status before being placed in the hole. Meaning he will not have lost the ability to have earned goodtime credit while being in the hole.

I am not completley confident in my answer as if he will return to Fire camp work group F or if it is just regular A-1 which would be 1 day good time credit for every day served if not found guilty. My hubby has never been in fire camp.

FYI... this 115 process tends to be lengthy. And when they send him to the hole they take almost everything away from him. Meaning he needs stamps, paper, pen and envelopes in which to write you with. If you haven't already I would send them to him so that he can write you with some information as to what is going on with him.

Hope this helps a little!

Oh I forgot to add.... I only mentioned what happens with credit earning status while in the hole. Another reply touched upon getting time back.

If at the hearing he is found guilty then what I said is still true about his work group changing but when found guilty of a serious rule violation cdcr can take away goodtime credits he has already earned. As another reply indicated these credits they take may be earned back if he remains disciplinary free for a certain period of time. Credits taken of 90 days or less may be earned back.
