Help! can I put his last name on birth certificate?!!

I am due very soon and obviously he's not gonna be there to sign the birth ceritifcate. Am I still able to put him down as the father and give our child his last name?!!!!! Helppppp )=

Idk about putting him as the father, but you can give your child whatever name you want!

Yes, your baby can have his last name. You just write his/her name as you please and they will print it up however you have it written on the paperwork.

When you go in to deliver tell them your situation and that he wants to be on the birth certificate. They should send over papers for him to sign confirming he is the father and wants to be on the birth certificate. Atleast thats how it works here in MI. They will be able to help you step by step at the hospital.

I don't know what state you live in but in Cali unless you are legally married he has to sign a form acknowledging he is the father of your baby. So unless he is present he won't be listed on the birth certificate but the last name is your decision.

Just like DP's Girl said here in CA unless you are legally married you can not add him to the BC unless he signs... If I am not mistaken you can add his last name but he cannot be listen in the BC as the father.... Unless that has changed... You can add him later to the BC but I believe there is a fee to make changes to the BC later time...

I would say speak with the staff in the place you are planning to give birth they should be able to assist you.... If not call his counselor I know of many females here in CALI that have gotten notorized letters from their guys counselors so they can be placed in the BC... But check what your state allows...

I just gave birth 2wks ago (Texas) I gave her his last name but couldn't put him on the birth certificate ....as soon as I got out of the hospital I went to attorney general office did a partial acknowledgement of paternity which they faxed in to vital statistics...he has to do his partial at the library where he is incarcerated nd when that gets faxed in we will b able to add him as daddy!!! Without his name on the birth certificate I can't have a contact visit because we aren't married so we are hoping to get this done quickly so he can meet his baby girl soon...good luck to u!

Im now in the process of giving my baby gurl his last name...i went to dept of labor to the vital records section and got acknowledgement of paternity form...went to the jail gave it to an officer so that he can give it to my fiance to sign....

I had a friend who had her daughter while her fiance was in prison, she actually almost faught with the staff because they wouldnt allow her to add him, they said he had to be present, it took until he was out of prison and going to I think the health department. GOod luck hun but I think not.
