He's been sentenced, will a lawyer make a difference in release date?

My fiancé was sentenced to six years on 2 aggravated assaults with a deadly weapon. June will be a year that he's been in and his EPD is June 25, 2014 and his maximum is June 25, 2017. Just wondering if I got him a lawyer would it get him home any earlier.
