Default hotels

There are some motels if you go left from the driveway there. I wouldn't suggest them. Thats lake city. I would go right and go till i hit i-10, then go till macclenny. (bout 10 minutes) ther are like 3 nice and decently priced motels there. Also many places to eat.

Sometimes it takes awhile for members to see your thread, if there are any members currently active that do actually have any info for you. While I understand your anxious to get to DL on CCI, I'm sure it's pretty much the standard routine. I hope you have a nice visit. After your visit maybe you can post anything pertinent that others need to know about this facility.

I will def post info but I know people in here have people in columbia ci, I just don't understand why people won't share, fl is the most unfriendliest forum and you can't tell me that is not true.

If you know of members with info on a certain facility you can always PM them with your questions. Not all members login everyday, all day.

I will disagree with you in that our forum is unfriendly. There is a ton of information in this forum and there wouldn't be without the members who posted it.

My boy is over there right now, but in the box.

He was at Brevard so yo man might know him idk.

the place is relaxed and the guards dont mess wit the inmates. my boy said it's a million times better than Brevard so yo man should be fine.

Honestly, I'm careful about who I share info with about a facility when my man is there. His time is short and sometimes that is the hardest time outside of when you first go in. It's just how he prefers it because you never know who is reading.

My guy was at Columbia but it was the annex. He rarely had any complaints about issues with officers outside of the "black on black hate thing" which I was exposed to when I visited so I know that wasn't all in his head. Never saw issues with how folks were dressed when it came to visitation. It seemed more relaxed than other camps (he was at FSP before that) so that was a major change for the better.

I find when I'm looking for info on a specific facility, it is difficult to get good up to date info. Could be the same reason why I don't get into too much about the facility my guy is currently at. It's not about being unfriendly, sometimes it's about protecting your loved one. The saying "it's a small world" comes to mind. You just never know. Good luck and enjoy your visit.

If your guy is at the annex and you'd like to know more, PM me.

Now at Columbia, he's gone through a variety of moves, from the construction crew (with actual written commendation) to the kitchen crew (where he can't even gain a pound of weight) and is now in work camp where he's a minority. He's not making any income doing these things and has a lot of new physical problems, including dental that are put on hold. When I send him what little money I can, he ends up spending it on aspirins to ease the pain. By rights, he should be seen and treated, but he's just another number. There are gangs in there, as I'm sure there are everywhere. He's tried any number of ways to better himself and is finally looking at a possible transfer. I can't imagine a "good" place for him to transfer, although I have another loved one in Liberty who is pretty well satisfied, but that is even farther. I have not been to visit Columbia the whole time he's been there...he's encouraged me not to. Actually, visits at Everglades went very nicely, guards OK, everyone respectful. This is my first post and not sure if I'm out of line in my venting. Don't know if this is helpful to anyone...just frustrated too!

As for being FED, has anyone read anything about all the SOY that is going into the food? On the surface, that sounds like a good thing, but if you Google the "prison soy lawsuit" funded by the Weston A. Price Foundation in the state of Illinois, you'll find that it is a slow poisoning of the body and should be stopped!!

Well, I'll post this, but it'll probably be deleted.
oh yea...i remember this all..i was there almost 2 yrs ago now and i was first very overwhelmed cos i am a dutch and i was their first european visiter...the food is TERRIBLE...i send my hubby money to buy sum food in the cantine what is alittle better than they serve...everything is soy... and not really fit for human...i didnt had any problems with the officers or at the gate, only one time when i had something in my hair to keep it together..LOL...he has a to high cholesterol right now..he said not to worrie about it,but i do!...for now,i hope to move over soon so can hold him again, cos i misses him very badly...what i've learned in this 2 yrs...they talk nicely at the phone when u have questions or so,but in the mean time they fooling u!! that is not what i am used at mine side, but i will learn to deal with these patetic and twisted people...ever...

Hello everyone I am not new to pto but I am new to Columbia Annex. My husband was mived there from Taylor CI were he did almost 3yrs at. I have been to visit already at Columbia and had no problems it was MUCH better than Taylor ever was. The only thing I find about this place is the violence inside everyday my husband is telling me of one thing or another. I am currently looking for someone to possibly carpool with from Pinellas County (St.Pete). I do not have a car but am willing to split all gas costs. Also if anyone has any inside info on Columbia pls pm me. thank you in advance for taking the time to read this

My hubby has been moved twice this week. I'm happy too. He went from 7 hrs to 5 now to 2 away. Does anyone know a cheap motel close by the annex?

a motel? For just 2 hours?

Well, when I was going to lake city the best I could find was the little motel beside the waffle house. Can't remember the name but it was 45 a night. Clean sheets and room. Microwave and small fridge. Right there on the same exit as CCI. I think its hwy 90? Or SR 90.

Default Non-Contact Visit Question

Because I am an ex-staff member (at another facility), I have not been able to visit my fiance in more than 2 years. I met with the warden a few weeks ago, and he generously agreed to allow us a 2-hour non-contact visit on Christmas this year. Although it will be torture to see my honey without being able to touch him, I am grateful and excited to at least be able to look him in the eyes when I remind him how much I love and miss him (and hear it in return, of course ). I am just wondering how this type of visit works, since our few visits at his last facility were contact visits. He is under the impression that there is some sort of mobile "cage" that is located in the regular VP, but I find that hard to believe. Is there a special room for non-contact visits? Is it a phone or holes in the glass that you talk through? Do you arrive at the regular time? Any information would be appreciated!
