Release 20,000? Let help our men ( updated )

Heard on the news tonight that legislation will be voting on the bill on Wednesday that will make the State of Alabama have to release 20,000 of it's prisoners due to budget deficit! It's a toss up between Medicaid and the prison system and I think Medicaid is winning the money. The news reported tonight that it would have to give 2/3 of the prisoners early release, which would only have them NOT releasing lifers and death row inmates. Said there would only be like 9,000 left incarcerated. They would have to close alot of the facilities and combine the prisoners so the overhead cost would be much less. I did some googling about this and all I could find in articles from today was saying release of 18,000 inmates. But the numbers are still close and that is alot of inmates! I am praying that something is done soon to release so many of these men and women that don't deserve to be there. It does worry me about some being released, but look at the ones that it would benefit that would not hurt anyone! If it passes and the governor vetos it, then there will be a mandatory meeting in September where they will HAVE TO to fix the problem because it's the end of the fiscal year and they will have reached their deadline to do something. If anyone hears anything on Wednesday, please post it so we will all know what they do that day. *keeping fingers crossed*!
