Default RDAP time off

HOpe I'm putting this is the right place not sure. On the rdap program dose someone get more time off depending on what prison and state ur at or is it all the same? We have been hearing that depending on the prison ur at that some give more time off than others. Is there any truth to that or not. Thanks.

It will depend on the rules for each RDAP program. I do know that in the fed, some inmates are allowed to take the program, but are ineligible for any time off their sentences. There is also a sliding scale for how much time off is granted to the ones who do qualify, which is based on the individual case and the amount of time they have left on their sentence, but I don't know the specifics.

He may be correct because there are always people involved in making decisions in the bop, so things sometimes do get handled differently. I know the amount of HWH time someone can get is often subjective, depending on if the unit team likes an inmate or not. I don't have any direct knowledge about the RDAP program, so hopefully someone who has been through it can give you a better answer.

I just finished RDAP and am currently at the halfway house. When you complete the 500 hour program you are may recieve up to one year off! It depends on the prison that your loved one is in along with how many other inmates that are currently qualified for the program. Prisoners enter the program depending on their release date. It is not uncommon for inmates to get "bumped" into the next class if another inmate with a earlier release date transfers into the prison. Hope this answers helps and if you need any other info please let me know. God Bless

What is the treatment like for the RDAP program while in the HWH? Can you do this portion while on home confinement or does it have to be done while at the HWH?

Default RDAP Time

RDAP is a Federal Program. It does depend on the location of the prison. A inmate can qualify for up to a year off if their sentence is longer then 37 months. If the sentence is shorter the time off is reduced. The reason it depends on the prison is simply because of the RDAP Population. A RDAP DTS which stands for Drug Treatment Specialist can only have up to 20 inmates on their case load. If you have 4 DTS on staff that means you can have 80 inmates in RDAP at the same time. You are placed into the program after you are interviewd and qualified and placement depends on your "Out Date". I hope this helps and I wish you the best. I finished the program in January of 2012.
Matt

CD I am currently on home confinement and still a B.O.P inmate that is taking part in RDAP....It is called TDAP when you are done with prison. I attend 2 sessions each week of counseling. I have a one on one with my counselor and then I have a group meeting weekly. You are still in custody like I stated; which means there are rules to follow. I am allowed to work, work out, attend A.A. meetings, and I have six hours of personal time each week during my days off. Your personal time is accounted for as is all your time while on home confinement. I submit a weekly itenary to the halfway house on my check in days with phone numbers, and addresses of were I will be at all times. Hope this helps and good luck!

One more thing. If you complete the RDAP Program you get 6 months of halfway house/home confinement time...this applies to everyone in the Federal System

Once you are in the HWH, it is possible to qualify to move to home confinement until your bop release date. It depends on the HWH rules, and an approval from the bop community corrections person for that area. You are still in bop custody, and still are required to pay 25% of your gross wages to the HWH, but you are allowed to live at home.

Yes there are requirements for home confinement. I don't know if they are specific to each HWH, or something the bop puts out to the HWHs generally. I "qualified" after completing orientation, meeting the job requirement and having my "home plan" approved, but still had to wait for more than a month before I was allowed to live at home. The HWH counselor should be able to tell him what they require there.

Does anyone know how I go about determining if my son is eligible for early release after completing RDAP? He has not started the program yet; but looks in good position to begin soon. He has a prior record which includes a class B misdemeanor simple assault charge. Of course, I'm getting mixed messages as to if he's allowed early release or not. Now I'm also reading that his current conspiracy conviction, 21 USC 846, may be considered a violent crime; although there was no violence and or weapons in this particular case. How do I determine if his record prevents him from early release after RDAP? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
