Default Drug problem

I don't understand, if someone inside has a drug problem and that is the only reason they are put back into prison, wouldn't it be better to put them in a rehab??

Life is Life, enjoy every precious moment you have with him while he is out, but they can take him back at any time if he violates parole.
Hopefully he gets some programming while he is back in. Best of luck

Yepper, they should be put into rehab, however, we all know that nobody is going to get clean and sober by being forced. They have to want it for themselves.

In some cases, people have other crimes that were committed while under the influence, so that is why they serve time in prison, and not rehab.

Peace~

My man was put back in on a parole violation for a postive drug test and he had to go back for 16 months. He now only has 10.5 months left but he did something stupid that he shouldn't have been doing while on parole and now he is paying for that mistake. An he knows he was wrong. He did not committ anymore crimes nonetheless he is back in there for serve out time for this. I guess it depends on their background but like others said they have to want to do it but if other crimes are committed under the influence of drugs, they will be serving out time for those as well.

I suppose they have to get so sick of prison life, they will make the changes necessary to not go back again and again. I really hope my man has learned his lesson. You may find their attitude will change if they are back on a P.V. realizing using drugs are not worth being locked up for. Sorry if it sounds like I'm preaching to the choir.lol. I get angry that he made this mistake and he has to want to change in which he promised me but then again actions speak louder than words.

I sure wish they would have. My hubby was an addict & I tried so hard to get him into a rehab and they still said no.
Now he's serving 21.4 months in prison. The judge said she was going to recommend a rehab for him inside the prison but do you think it's really gonna happen? NO.

Yes, I agree, the same thing happened to my brother and he is now serving 90 days at innes road jail in Ottawa.
He was drinking and driving (and doing drugs)
and he hit a hydro pole and kept driving until he hit another car with an
elderly man, which broke his ribbs.

Anyhow, my brother was on the Methadone program to get off of drugs and
instead of going to rehab, they gave him 90 days prison.
Its the worst place for him because I heard they smuggle the drugs in anyhow.
He is a mess. At least before he had a chance. Now he has to go back to the begining again if thats even possible and start again.
He gets his methadone in jail but because of overcrowding, the conditions are horrible and some days he gets his meds and sometimes not.
The conditons are inexcusable. 3 to a cell meant for 2. No ventilation, no going out, no showers, eat inside the cell. Bugs everywhere. Its filthy dirty. I cant even complain because the guards might make it worse for him.
I am sick to my stomach about it.
Rehab would of been much better. He is on methadone and he is supposed to get it everyday but some days he doesn't and some days he does. I am told the drug addicts just smuggle it in anyways.
You cant win.
take care

Yep, my man spent time in there for 2 weeks before being transferred out to KP TD unit and that's exactly how he described it. The only good thing was I was 10 minutes away and able to visit twice a week. Now he is the middle of nowhere and I have to drive a long distance to see him. My man is back in on a parole violation.
