The Bestest is currently at GSP. I only know what he tells me, so this may be a bit glossed over. There are work details available for most security levels. Getting on a work detail can help with the boredom and pass the time. The food is awful. If something doesn't smell right, don't eat it. Food poisoning happens a lot due to poor temperature control and food handling techniques. If he behaves and requests it, he can earn a place in an honor dorm. There are lots of new officers. I have found that 90% of them are polite and respectful to me during visitation. The Bestest has found that many officers are so used to being treated poorly, even the slightest bit of respect goes a long way. Reidsville is a tiny town, when you go, there is a Dairy Queen and a Waffle King to eat at in town. If you are able to go for both days on a weekend or holiday, staying in Vidalia is easy and cheaper. The vending machines run out of the 'good food' on visitation days really fast. If your guy likes salads or fruit, there are some options in vending that are not too bad. The library has a decent selection of books, and some of the guys will share magazines if they get them in the mail. If you have any other specific questions, I would be happy to try to answer them!
