Default Trying to keep my head up

Hello,
My name is Skeets and I just joined here. I got in some trouble with the law in January for taking some programs out the trash at my work place.

Anyhow, fast forward to today and I just received a call from my lawyer and my initial prosecuter dropped the case but a young new prosecuter found the case and now he's charging me with 5 felonies.

I'm 20 years old, never been convicted of anything, no record, etc.

It really sucks, my life has been totally flipped upside down. I have a child on the way, and the stress of possibly not being able to see my baby and my wife is causing me to break down.

I'm an outstanding citizen, I have a college degree, and I really had things going for me.

I don't know what to do, I hate seeing my wife worrying, etc.
Any tips of what I can do to feel better etc or someone who also has white collar crime etc feel free to post.

I'm really scared of prison, I'm not the biggest guy, and don't want to be "fresh meat."

Keep your head up. When you think things are bad, something may come through and shed some good on you. The important thing is that you have learned your lesson, and never do whatever it was that you did again. We sometimes don't understand that what we do affects our family also. I will be praying for you, and hope that you either get probation, or that they eventually throw that junk back out. Stressing is the worst thing that you can do right now. Try to find some positive things throughout the community that you can do that will show the judge that you are not a bad person. What ever you find to do, make sure you get it in writing, so that you have something to show.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I know you are scared. My guy was so scared, but he's been in county a year almost now, and he hasn't had any trouble yet really. He too was an upstanding regular guy, and was worried but he hasn't had to really stand up for himself or anything. Be strong, read the posts on here, they are really helpful. Feel free to pm me if you need to talk. This is going to be hard for your wife too, she might want to join us on here too. There is lots of support for the families of those incarcerated too. We can help you guys through this.

Its okay to feel what you're feeling. My man was charged with a felony his first time getting in trouble, never had a problem before. Because he had no priors, he was able to serve his time in county and rather than sit in county, he was able to do the workfurlough program. Your lawyer should have already gone over everything with you regarding your clean record...if not, you both need to research all your options seeing as this is your first rodeo. Don't ever rely on your attorney to tell you everything. Don't worry about the new prosecutor...they're just trying to make a name for themself! The case my man is currently fighting is such a bullshit case, the prosecutor (and she's a new young prosecutor) told his attorney "I know we'll probably lose this case but its worth a shot". And he had originally heard that she was going to go after him for 15 years; she offered a plea of 2 years at 50% (1year).

Hang in there. And of course, tell your wife to register on here for support. This place is full of support for you and your wife! Before I found this website I cried literally every hour of the day but I have found so much information and support on here, its really made things easier.

Good luck
