Notice to new members intending to register - from January 9th 2012

My good friend that's in the Army went to jail in October of 2011 in Germany. I tried sending a letter to the prison in Germany that I thought he was at but got no reply. I didn't hear from him since he went in but then last Tuesday I got a package from him. It had his name with a 5-digit number but it's the address in Fort Leavenworth, KS. Does the jail in Germany go through the Kansas prison or was he transferred from Germany to there??? I'm so confused!

He got 15 months so should get out around November 2012 or so but I thought they waited a year before transferring the inmates to Kansas. PLEASE HELP! I wrote a letter to him and put the information that was on my package. He didn't send a letter but only a gift for me(which I absolutely loved!

) but I'm also confused on how he got to send me something. I didn't know he could do that.

If anyone knows anything about the jail in Fort Leavenworth, KS or anything that would help get me answers, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Try posting on the military justice page. Maybe someone there can answer it. I'm pretty sure they can transfer them back to the states to serve their time. We transferred someone from Hawaii to California for his brig time.

It sounds like he was moved to Leavenworth to finish his sentence.

Thanks to the both of you! Kansas is a lot closer to me so just knowing that makes me feel better. If I called would that let me know anything since I am only just a friend or would they not be able to tell me anything?

The only way to know is to try calling the prison. Many times the answer depends on who you are talking to, some are helpful, some are not, but you can probably find out if he is actually locked up there. Good luck.

Thank you all sooo much! I called Leavenworth today and he is indeed there

So I feel so much better just knowing he's only about 11 hours away from me instead of out of the country. She told me that I wrote the correct address on the letter so it should get to him! But I really appreciate everyone's help.
