The SC has denied his appeal, I'm sad to say. The story is here. Thinking of Bobby and his friends.

Stayed!! From the article:
Dallas County prosecutors asked a judge to withdraw the June 6 execution date for 39-year-old Bobby Lee Hines because results of additional DNA testing in his case won't be available by then. District Court Judge Don Adams in Dallas approved the request Friday.

So why did they set the date in the first place? The article is here.

That's such great news!

I don't know if anyone here has ever caught that TV show about the Dallas County DA, but he does seem to actually care.

Damn! From the article:

DNA testing confirms that death row inmate Bobby Lee Hines is guilty of the murder of Michelle Wendy Haupt two decades ago, the Dallas County District Attorney’s office said Thursday.

Read more here. Thinking of Bobby and his loved ones.

I have conducted some research into Bobby Hines' past and present, and in my opinion given his juvenile record (largely for burglaries) before he made this grave mistake of 1991, the state of Texas could have done a significantly better job of reforming him whilst he was on probation and in juvenile detention so he would not end up lengthening and exacerbating his criminal record, especially given the fact he was 19 at the time of Michelle Haupt's murder.

In my opinion, both Mr. Hines and his victim Ms. Haupt were failed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I am quite disappointed that the DNA testing proved that Mr. Hines did indeed kill Ms. Haupt, as he seems to otherwise have slim hopes of avoiding his eventual execution.

It breaks my heart to say this but Bobby has had another date set. It is for Oct 24. My thoughts are with him and his wife. He has many loyal friends that will no doubt suffer too. Much love to you all.

There may be some confusion; this is not a petition to be signed, but an Urgent Action from Amnesty International for clemency letters to the Board of Pardons and Paroles. They can be emailed, and you can also contact Gv Rick Perry through his website.
For those who are not US citizens you can send a copy of your email to the Consulate of your home country.

I'm sorry Bloved--I'm not trying to give you more work! I've done so many actions and petitions lately that I didn't realize what this was! I guess it's a gentle reminder to read more carefully.
I'm going to email Perry of course.

Thinking of Bobby and his loved ones today. I'm still hoping he'll get a stay since the SC is reviewing similar cases next week.

From what I read his lawyer doesn't have anything left to file since his appellate attorney didn't file on the mitigating issues in the original appeal. Here is an article. I hope everyone is holding up okay.
