Did you have to write the warden first, before you received the marriage application? I havent been able to get in contact with the chaplain and my boyfriend still hasnt received a application for us to get married from him either.

I would go ahead and write the warden, just to get the ball rolling! Also, have your fiancee request a meeting with the chaplain and he can get what he needs from him! Hope you get your answers soon!!

ok my hubby said the same thing, that they toldhim that i had to writedawarden 1st then the chaplin contact me n also do u needa witness if so do theyhave to be on ur visitation....we r in da process n do theychoose wat day u get married

Hey im new to this and not really sure but my boyfriend is in wheeler and is set to get out anywhere between may of this year and jan of 2013. Im currently trying to get on his list of visitors can sumone plz tell me the quickest way and how to add money to his commisary????

Hi Hizrideordie,

Welcome to PTO and the GA forum. For you to visit, your man has to send you a significant other form that you have to return to the prison. He can get the form from his counselor. To send him money you can do it online through J-Pay or send a money order to Atlanta. The GA DOC website has instructions on both methods.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! He will need to send you a visitor form to fill out and you will need to fill it out and send it back to the counselor. The information should be on the form when he mails it to you. Also, since Wheeler is a private prison, you actually have to send a money order to the prison and not to Atlanta. JPay also doesnt service Wheeler since it is a private prison. The money order should be made out to your loved one and be sure to include their GDC number beside his name. The money order will need to be mailed to Wheeler Correctional Facility, PO Box 466, Alamo, GA 30411. BE sure to address the envelope with his first name and GDC number on the top line and then Wheeler Corr Facility on the second line. i talked to him today and he said that he hasnt seen his councelor so is there any other way to get it done faster?? and he said i could send him a greendot card which is like a credit card that is prepaid is that legal?? i dont want him to get in trouble or myself

he will need to request a significant other form and send to you and when u do it u need to get a copy of ur bith certificate , license, and ssc copied and notarized...and send it back it should take a week at da most...to be approved....as far as money they cant have debit cards period the mail room will take them....when u send money u send it directly to the address u write him at which is da prison make sure his gdc number on the money order and letter or they will send it back...im new too the system my fiance is down there and im going to see him this sunday...visitation is pretty laid back they got vending machines wnd stuff der so u can bring up to $20 in quaters and it got to be in a clear zip lock bag...and u get 5 hours visitation on sat is 2:30-7:30 and sunday 8:30am-1:30pm but i THINK they switch the hours like sat hours will be sunday hours and sunday hours will be saturday hours but i think they do it every3 months i would have to call and check.....if u have anymore info i just inbox me hope i can help!

hi i am the same way i can drive i just never really took time to get my license....i am only 30 mins from him...i get my sis and her husband to take me on sat sometimes and mt cousin on sunday i try to stay the whole 5hours if not atleast 3 of them...im tryna see if any ladies wanna get together and do some car pooling or what not....where r u from?

i live in claxton the yahoo maps said it was an hour and 22 mins drive.

my boyfriend is at wheeler. he sent me a significant other form and i filled it out and sent it off the next day. that was two weeks ago. does anyone know how long it takes for you to get approved for visitation?

I'm not for sure how long it will take there, my boyfriend is at Wheeler but was transferred there from another facility and so his visitation list followed him. But I can tell you the mail room there is very slow for incoming and outgoing mail. Especially incoming. Just be patient and hope you get approved soon.

This whole thread/forum has been very helpful to me. I wasn't aware that I would need to fill out so much information just to visit, however. Wow. Sounds like a lot but I definitely want to make it happen. My boyfriend in Wheeler said that I could send him typed letters, which is awesome, but let me also ask--can we send decorative envelopes like with a design PRINTED onto them? I know how those places are about stickers etc, but hope this will be different.
Also, can I get more info on visitation? Do you just sit in a waiting room the whole time or can you go somewhere else? Is brief hugging or kissing allowed and do they remain cuffed? Are we face to face without like a glass window etc? Sorry, I only know what I see from TV and books.

my husband was there a whole year. They just moved him 2 weeks ago.as far as typed letter, yes you can do that because at times i have typed my husband his letter and he got them...for visitation ur boyfriend needs to send you a "significant other form" you go fill out and get a copy of birth certificate, social, and license, and take it to get notarized and you send it back. As far as envelope ive never sent "decrotive" ones or ones with stickers so im not sure if u can get them...visitation there is very laid back depends on whos working that shift...you get too sit in front of each other with a small table between you you can hug and kiss when they come in..you have to stay in visitation room you cant leave unless to go to bathroom...sometimes you can hold hands depends whos working..if you bring money it has to be in see through zip lock back it can only be in change like quarters the maxium amount you can take is $20 you must be on his list to nsee him if not they will turn you around...please wear clothing with sleeves, nothing low cut, nothing to tight, you will have to take off shoes when going in so they can scan them...and you go through medal detector...dont come in with bubble gum or lip balm or nothing, no cameras or cell phones nothing...when you get there in visitation youll be seated before he comes in...and depending what visitation time ur on if you dont get there before a certain time they start count meaning youd prolly be waiting 1 hour hour and half tops for him if you come during count cause they want let him out...hope this was helpful!!!!

can someone tell me anything about this facility i have noticed that a lot of its inmates have way worse in their files than what my fiance has so why would he be transferred here? idk im just confused and cant find any info on this place.
