My friend is there. The warden runs the place like a maximum unit. They have made all kinds of changes the last couple of months. The one I do not like the most is that during my visits everyone is "locked" in the gym. The guards lock and unlock the doors every time someone enters and exits. I think that is a safety issue. They have better items in the vending machines. My friend says that for the most part the guards are hard asses but I have not seen that.

Yup my husband has told me this unit is a lot more strict than others. I still haven't been able to go visit but I'm hoping to go within the next few weeks.

I will say things I have changed and more crazy than it was before. My ex was there for 5 years and I became familiar with the guards and routine. Yes some guards are a pain and some are really nice and helpful. I always nice to them bc u never know what has happen beforehand that has made them grouchy.

The wait time is crazy sometimes bc they don't have outside visits a lot. I have several friends there and are in the craft shop, which is great for them and me to. Since I get goodies from them. Lol.

I will say this my friends there have been lifesavers to me when I thought my life ended when my ex came home and lost his mind. Long story there.

Overall to me I like this unit and feel comfortable visiting there than others places. My cousin was here and now in a different one and u wish he was still here. Don't get me wrong I wish he was home but he had it better off there than where JW is now.

If u have any questions please feel free to pm or ask me here.

My husband is there and I try to visit him once or twice a month if I can. The unit is alright I usually like to go visit on Sundays because the wait is not that long. It seems like every time I go to get searched by the guards before I see my husband one of them has to say shit about what Im wearing or something and they give me attitude about little shit!

I understand about the clothes issue. I want to say it hard to find something that is cute and not low cut. I also want to say I'm sorry God blessed me with some girls and well shirts that may not be bad are a little lower on me. Not my fault want to blame anyone u have to talk to the one up above. I just don't want to wear a regular tshirt all the time, once in awhile is okay. I did the whole tshirt, no makeup look once. Lol.

I understand the rules but goodness its not like the end of the world on some stuff we wear.

Have a great next visit and hope u wear something totally cute for Ur love one.

I hear ya! My boob crack lol that's what I call it, is very high no matter what I wear so when I make it up there I have to be very strategic as to what I wear. This guard told me once at Garza East, "fix your shirt, your husband isn't the only one looking." I guess that's a big deal too, to avoid fights between inmates about wandering eyes

Thanks for the input, I haven't gone but luckily I can request those special visits cuz I live over 300 miles away. I need to get my car fixed to go up there soon!

And yup my husband tells me it's pretty strict there

Hi there my son was transferred there about 3 months ago. I have no complaints so far. The staff has been friendly and i even got a chance to speak with the warden. She was cool to me. My son was just granted trustee status and loves it. He said the guard trip alot, but if the inmate is focus on staying out of trouble and following the rules they will be fine. I have never get any negative vibes from the staff when i visit they have always been professional with me. I do recommend if you are going to visit on a saturday get there right at 8 as the ines to get it is very long. Their visitation are is very small they have 2 inside the main building and back up in the gym area with out side table. Sometime you can be there waiting outside the gate by the entrance for 2 hrs. I get there right at 8 everytime i see my son. Sundays are usually a good time to visit. Not that much cars. Hope this helps
