Default What happens once parole is granted?

Do all inmates get sent to MPRI? Do they stay at the prison they are currently at until they are released? Where do they get released from?

I can answer your question from our recent experience. Our son had his parole hearing on Nov 15, it was approved on Nov 23, he found out on Dec 9. He did not have to take MPRI - have no clue how they decide who takes MPRI and who does not. He stayed at the prison he was at, one of the other co-defendants was moved closer and the other co-defendant was moved to take MPRI. So there are 3 different stories for you ! Our son had been in Adrian for the past 2 1/2 years and he came home on April 24. They only parole on T-W-Th....so he actually had to stay an additional day since his erd was April 23 !!!

Thanks, Joyce! It seems like MPRI provides great assistance to people with finding employment. And the statistics show a lower recidivism rate so I almost hope that my friend can go through the program. I don't think his parole paperwork required it, but I told him he should ask about it.
His ERD is on a Tuesday so I guess he wouldn't have to do any unnecessary extra days. Did you have to give them your name to pick him up? He has asked me to pick him up, but I'm hesitant to do that because of my job.

The Mpri is a helpful program, but only if you are on parole. No help for those who are not, according to the macomb office. The miworks I guess is supposed to help, anyone know just how helpful it is? Thanks

clever clogs ~ The one co-defendant who was moved to take MPRI said it was a waste and there was nothing to do, never went to a class or anything.

It was already decided that he would parole to home and that we would be picking him up. I started asking questions of the officer at the desk when we checked in about a month before his date. He was brought over about 7am to sign the paperwork, get his money left from his account, and get the clothes we brought for him to change into. We went down to Adrian the night before, ( I took a personal day from school ) we had a visit, he already had his footlocker at the desk ready for us to pick up that night so there was nothing left to do that next morning. We got there about 7:15 and we were out of there by 7:30. There was also one other person there waiting at that point in the lobby with us. He came out with all the paperwork, a big smile and his shirt untucked - since that was a big issue in Adrian that your shirt had to be tucked in all the time.

I love hearing it too I know all of us just invision what its going to be like when they walk out an they are free from that cage of imprisonment, I have almost 7 1/2 more months left till his ERD he is seeing the board possibly at the end of july or beginning of august shoot with how they are moving with his classes an paperwork lately he might just get a paper under the door for it instead of having to go infront of the board they just might make the decision with out seeing him.....I hope for a great home coming for all of us!
