hey everyone, so im new here and new too this whole prison thing. my bf is currently in TD in matsqui institution and im trying to figure out how i can send money too him for his canteen. he only has to serve 30 days so i wont be going to visit him, as i have no way to get there. but i would like him to be able to call me and write. does anyone know how i get money too him

Get a money order at the post office and mail it to him with next day delivery. All you need on the MO is his name. Be sure you have the address when you go to the Post Office and you can do everything at once. I used to send a letter, some jokes, etc. along with the MO. If he is only there 30 days you will need to expedite it. The other alternative is to drive to the prison and go in and give them cash at the front desk.

If he had any money on him when he went there, that can be used for canteen. They give them the basics when they arrive like saop, deodorant shampoo etc.

While everything said here so far is true my hubby has been in several institutions across the country and what we found crazy is that the process can be slightly different from place to place. the fact that he is there for only 30 days might also be another reason for it to be different. My advice to you is to give the institution a quick call - as for Visits & Correspondence - and pose the question to them. They will not give you specifics and confirm whether he is there or not but they can tell you things like (1) if you have to be on his list. We have had it where at one institution anyone can send money then he goes to another and only people on his visiting list could. So it wouldn't hurt to just give them a call.

thanks everyone for all your information, i know where he is. so ill give the prison a call tomorrow and see what they day
