Default Manufactured Park living?

Any have experiences to share about living in a manufactured home park with someone on PPS?

I am worried about the manager, the background check (no sex charges or anything like that). I worry, as I own the home, but not the property and they can force me to move out, etc.

Anyone's experience would be greatly appreciated!

All the rules would be different depending on the individual park. It might be worth your time to contact the Fair Housing Office in Eugene. Here are some numbers to start with:
  • Oregon Fair Housing Council
  • 1-800-424-3247 or www.fhco.org
  • Enforces fair housing laws. (re: discrimination issues only)
  • Oregon Manufactured Dwelling Park Comm. Serv. (Salem Office) 1-800-453-5511

And lastly, specifically in Eugene.

City of Eugene
Human Rights and Housing Practices Code 4.630 http://www.eugene-or.gov/codeinfo. For housing discrimination complaints based on the Housing Practices code, please call 541-682-5177.

Specifically, your rental agreement for your particular park should be reviewed carefully to see if there's any provisions specifically aiming at Ex-Offenders or Felons. It's good you don't have the sex offender issue to deal with as that would make things much more complicated. The challenge comes with some drug related charges too - so be aware of that.

No drug charges either, thank goodness. Just that pesky manslaughter charge.

Your not a new tenant i don't know why they would require that you have him submit to a background check. That's normal on new move ins.

My concern is when a parole officer does a home inspection and then speaks to the park manager.....I really didn't plan on filling out an application for him.

If your park requires an application, you should fill one out. The Parole Officer can deny the residence if the Park manager is not appraised of the situation and the PO feels he/she should be.

Review the rules of your park association/management. Some of them are very strict so it is better to find out now than later.

I do a lot of work in a local 55+ manufatured home park and no felons are allowed there, actually, they are not even supposed to be visiting there.

Not sure about any ole park...always good to check first, so you don't get any surprises.

Peace~

Some parks will only allow overnight guests for a couple of nights, but if someone plans on living there, they have to fill out an application or at least be listed on it....which means they run a check.

Peace~
