Default ~~Summer 2012 Chit Chat Thread~~

This is for June, and all the summers it brings

for the chiming of the church bells... that sing

In songs of matrimony o'er top hats and lace

'Fore June passes torch, to July's scarlet face

July 4th is a day for barbeques

Underneath an unforgiving sun;

Later, fireworks, perhaps the news,

Yawns, some love, and then the day is done.

For most it is a day for celebration

Of something so familiar that its grace

August Breathes hot tiger-breath on my burning skin and stalks me to the icy river where I plunge right in.

Welcome To Your Summer Chit Chat Thread!!!

Another June. <sigh> My brother's birthday is in June. Another birthday he will spend doing time. When they said "life" term for him they meant it.

As I recall, my brother has been at SCC since 2008 or 2009. His latest term started in 1999. He served two previous prison terms. His current sentence is for 50 years.

Im sorry to hear that. I thought that SCC was just a training facility, where they train to to go to fire camp. Mine has only been there about 3 months and should be leaving soon

SCC has several facilities. It does have a fire training facility. That trains low-medium custody prisoners on behalf of the California Conservation Corps (CCC). It also has facilities for long term incarcerations. They segregate the low/medium custody prisoners and the higher custody prisoners.

I tried to see my brother last Saturday. I got up there too late. The stopped processing visitors a few minutes before. There was a lady there right before me. They wouldn't let her in either. I saw her in the parking lot in her car. She was crying in her car. That was so sad. I felt badly for her. I've been there before and not been able to see my brother, so I knew the drill. I wonder if she did. Unfortunately, I didn't talk with her. I should have told her about this web site and the support it offers.

Since I wasn't able to see my brother last weekend, I am firmer in my plans to visit him on June 23.

I'd like to wish all my fellow fathers here, or wherever they may be, a happy Father's day.

In the most recent quarterly package I sent to my brother I included a new type of item. Securepak offers custom music CDs. My brother requested one of with a list of the songs he wanted. I will report how that worked out, but it seems to be ok.

I am going up to visit my brother this Saturday, June 23. I should be up there around 11 o'clock. Maybe I'll meet some of your there while waiting in line. Look for the skinny guy with graying hair. There probably won't be too many of those there. Just ask if I'm the Studebaker guy and I'll know you're from PrisonTalk.

Default almost home

Hey guys just wanted to share some happy news, today officially makes it 2 weeks till my husband gets home! I am beyond excited, but scared at the same time, he's been in for almost 6 years, and I've been holding it down for him and raising our son on my own. So I hope when he gets out he does the things he says he's gonna do, like work!! LOL... because since he's been in I've grown as well and I hope he has and wants something better for his life than what he/we had before. But on the exciting part! YIPPEEEEEE, so not next Wed. but July 4th I pick him up!! does anyone know what I have to do, like what time i need to be there? anything in particular I should know?
