New to the forum: feeling very overwhelmed

Hello everyone. i would like to introduce myself to this forum. My son is serving a ten years sentence. He has five more years to serve. I miss him so much. I am constantly worrying about his safety. He just got move to a usp canaan facility , . I know i have to leave it in God hands an hope an pray everyday. Do anyone know something about canaan. I expected it to be bad because it is a pententiary.

Welcome to PTO! I'm glad you found us, it really helps to have others who understand what you are going through and how you feel. My son is in a State prison so I'm no help on that front. I hope another prents comes along who may be able to answer your questions about canaan. If he's made it this far I'm sure he will be fine. My son is also almost ( this Tuesday) 1/2 finished with his sentence! I can't wait until the day he walks away from the prison and I will be doing the happy dance all the way to my car!!

Welcome, pepsigirl. I don't know anything about canaan since I'm in CA, but I do know what it is like to have a son serving a long sentence. We have over 6 years to go and it's not easy. I can truly understand how you are feeling. In fact, everyone here understands and we are here to offer support, encouragement and love whenever you need it. I hope you'll come back often.

Welcome pepsigirl!!! I too have a son serving a 10 year sentence in the Federal system...who landed in a USP...Big Sandy in Ky. I want you to go the the US REGION forum...and you can find a thread on Canaan....you will find people there who can give you the specifics on that prison.
My heart breaks with yours....but you have to be strong....(you already are if you have been into this for 5 years already!!!) I've been at it for 2 yrs....and I know that we will make it!!! USP's are another story....mine is awaiting transfer to a "normal" prison.
I will keep you and yours in my prayers....
I hope to see you posting here in the PWCIP family....we are here for you in everyway possible....to walk with you, encourage you and offer HOPE for the future!

welcome... i do not know anything about the specific prison question, but i do know what it feels like to have a son in prison ... i'm so glad you have found this site .... maybe we can help you make it through the rest of the time... prayers

I'm glad you found the Parent's forum. 1Bird2 gave excellent advice on how to learn about the new facility where your son is now located.Please continue to come back to the Parent's forum,there are so many thoughtful,wise and helpful people here!

i would like to thank everyone for their encouraging words. I know this forum will be good for me. I havent been able to talk to other about what i am going thur. Most of my family member think that i should be used to him not being here. I will never get used to that i will be so happy to see him walk out of prison. I will also be doing the happy dance.
