Default felon visits? marriage help?

My fiance just went to prison last week, he is at coffe creek in wilsonville OR right now for intake, Visits are not allowed durring the intake. We got in trouble together, but i had no priors so im not serving time. I got 5 felonies and he got 12. My question is... will I be able to visit him when he gets to his permanent location, as a felon? I hear felons are not allowed to visit ?? and if not, would i be able to visit him if we got married while hes in there. They gave him 55 moths, but I have already put in for appeal. I hope to have him home within a years time but i cant stand the thought of even going that long without a visit. I will try to make some calls later today for more info, just thought a forum might have some good info too. Thanks for any input

Default Oregon wedding info

My man & I want to get married while he is still in prison in Oregon. We had our wedding planned before he got locked up but then had to cancel the original date. He is at the Powder River prison in Baker city Oregon. I had a few questions to start. Does he need his Birth certificate? Do we need our divorce papers from our 1st marriages? He is going to the chaplin tomorrow Im just nerves about it all I don't want to have to keep putting our wedding off. We love eachother and I want to be his wife. Thanks for all you help.

Congratulations! I also married inside the walls and I feel it is the ultimate commitment to your love. He will get directions and a pamphlet from the Chaplain. The first thing you need to do is get a marriage license. I got mine through Multnomah County as it is the only way in Oregon to do it without both people present. I have heard you can do it by mail out of Washington County. I would suggest you send it to him first to fill out his part. That way your info is not on it if it gets "lost". Tell him not to date it because once he dates it you only have a certain amount of time to get the first part of the license. No MORE than 60 days before your actual wedding you need to take back and pay the fee. They will take the info they need and return it to you. When you get it back, you take it to your ceremony for the Chaplain to sign, AND YOUR MAN MUST SIGN IT TOO! They did not tell me that so I had to mail it to him for his signature and turn in a second time, but lucky for me they had already processed it so it could not be omitted from record.
I did not get married at Powder River, but I will tell you the ceremony at Snake River was suprisingly nice (considering). We were allowed TO SIT ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE TABLE. We were allowed to touch each others knees and we kissed a few extra times during our 2 hours. Just sitting knee to knee was so wonderful I can't even explain it.
I hope all goes well and remember ask questions! There was another couple who could not wed because of paperwork problems. I could understand because you are not given a ton of info by ODOC. There was also another gal who had to put leggings on under her dress for being too short, so the dress code is still in effect, but that's another thread...
Good luck and again Congrats!

There is a packet of information that he can get from the chaplain. Its my understanding that is pretty open for dresses as long as they fit the dress code. Think about it though, you still have to go through the metal detector and it would suck for something to stop you that day. I am getting married at OSCI in October.

Hello

Can you tell me how your process went I am trying to get on the list for October 2012 to get married at S.R.C.I. But there isn't much on here about Oregon weddings. I am beginning to feel overwhelmed as the chaplain hasn't gotten back to me yet I need to know what to do. I live in California so I have to travel a little ways so I want to make sure I have everything in order when I go. My baby requested a marriage packet but hasn't heard anything either and it has been weeks.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Gigi

Hi
How was your wedding? I am trying to get married there as well this October 2012. What was the process once you received the wedding packet?
Did the rings have to be mailed?

Any info would be appreciated.

Congrats on your special day

Hi
Congrats!!! I am trying to get married there at S.R.C.I as well. Did you have to mail the rings in to the chaplain? How long did the paperwork take? Did you have to request your wedding date six months in advance?

Thanks for any info

I am getting married at OSCI in 75 days. This is what I know:
1. Did you have any counseling? NO not required
2. How long did the whole process take? I don't know but I have been told it depends on how many people get married, but about 20 minutes but we get a couple hours to visit as others are getting married.
3. Did you have to find your own minister? Yes, And after I kept getting quotes about 150.00 to 250.00 (or I wont marry some one in prison) I just ordained my friend through universal life church online www.themonastery.com. She was already on his visiting list so further things were needed except email that information to his chaplain. Cost to ordain her and get the paperwork -- less than 40.00 and i have tripled check-- its legal.
4. Were you allowed any flowers or disposable camera? No to both but another inmate can take photos and then my husband can pay for them through commissary. We already lined someone up.
5. How many guests were allowed to be there? 10 total including me but not including my "minister". All must be on his visiting list 60 days before the wedding. All must be submitted by him before Sept 10 for the Oct 22 wedding. Paperwork comes from the chaplain.
6. What was the process to get the marriage license? Can't get it yet because we are not sixty days from the wedding. But i called. I get the form, take it during a visit and get is signed then take it back and pay the sixty dollars.
7. What were the costs you had to pay? Only the normal ones, dress, rings, license and photos afterward plus the cost of paying for my friends ordination paperwork.
8. What were the two of you allowed to wear? Me a dress that fits into the every day visiting rules. Honestly I am going simple and we are going to renew our vows when he's home. He has to wear his prison issue- period.
9. Were you allowed to bring a wedding band in for him or did it have to be mailed and what was the value limit? I can bring the ring in. Now one said a value but I am not sending something really expensive into a prison. It had to be simple though and no stones or engraving.
Anything else I can help wit, please hit me up.
Oh I am ordained as is my friend, if anyone in Oregon/ SW Washington wants an inexpensive officiant.
