Ok, so I only go see my MWI twice a yr...He knows I'm coming in July and guess what happens over the past two days????? Take a wild guess....he goes to the hole. My plane ticket are not refundable. Coming from Florida to Ohio...I don't even know what happened. He's been doing so good and into a lot of programming. He hasn't been in the hole in at least 2yrs and NOW is NOT the right time to be in there....I'm so hurt and just pissed. I have to cancel my entire vacation and I probably won't get the tickets refundable, what to do. I been with him for 4 yrs and right about the time I decide to come...this shit happens. I just had to vent, since I can't vent to anyone else. I got to get thru this...thanks for listening....

That really sucks! I wish I had something encouraging to say on that subject, but I can say this: Four years together with your M.W.I? That is AWESOME! That definitely gives me hope.

If you cant get a refund I say take the trip anyways and enjoy a little vacation.

I'd be angry as well. Maybe, since you're flying from out of state, maybe they would still let you have a brief visit, even if it is behind glass.

The other thing I wanna say is....don't jump to conclusions. Almost two years ago, m'love ended up in the hole but it was NOT his fault and he was released from the hole within a week and a half. (A guard hit him with the club and sprayed him but it was unprovoked, and after the investigation, it was proven that m'love did nothing wrong, and that the guard was indeed in the wrong). So, it may BE just temporary. Hoping that is the case.

Can't he still receive visits while he's in seg? I know most facilities allow them. Sure, the length of the visit would be less, but you could still see him.

You can't refund ...but you can change the date... I did it before when I went to Brazil and I paid a 150 fine.

You may not get a refund, but what about a credit with the airline? Same thing happened to me last year (the morning I was supposed to fly out to see him for the weekend) and I called Southwest to cancel the flight, but they let me rebook for a week later and I went to visit family for a week instead so I would not lose the flight and still had a little vacation.

You can def change your ticket for a fee. If you are flying southwest, they dont even charge a fee.

Don't be upset. Youve been at this long enough to know that anything can happen in prison at anytime, and believe it or not he's suffering too. Wait it out and see what really happened til you get upset.

If he's in State prison in Ohio you can still visit while they are in the hole, it's just behind a glass. Hopefully (1) he makes it out the hole in time before it's time for you to visit in July, I would def. call to see how many days he has to do in the hole and when they will be lettin him out because you are traveling a long distance from another state.

I see some postings above from Ohio and Illinois that wondered if they can still get a visit through glass here if they are in confinement - no, we can't. No visits of any kind while in confinement, not in Florida anyway. If you can't get a refund, I would take the time to call and ask the warden anyway, who knows, he may give on it. It is not routine though and I would be shocked if they did give, but they may. Especially since you don't know why he is in confinement - he may have wound up in their for his own protection if something weird went down. In that case, the warden may actually consider your plea. I wouldn't expect it, though - but if you can't get a refund, it is worth asking nicely. I would be totally beside myself to be that close to him and not be able to see him though!

Thanks for all the support, but I called the prison today, before I called the airlines to check on what I can do with my tickets, and the head sgt over all the visit said that they WILL NOT allow me to visit him. I still don't know what happened, but I do know from another inmates wife (she called me when he went to the hole) that they raised his security from a level 1 to a level 4, he's never been that high in 10 years!! I'm besides my self to know what happened. I thought I'd be getting a letter in the mail today, but no letter. I'm sure it will come. I sent one out to him yesterday. The mail is so slow there, he probably will be out of the hole, before he gets my letter.

Yes, I know girls...I been down this road before. I just don't understand why they get him evertime (2 times now) when I get my tickets, rental car and PTO time from work. I get it all planned out and look.....it happened again! I'm just really bummed out. They could atleast allow one phone call home...that would be nice for the family anyway. Oh, well....just part of being a MWI too! I'm sure this will pass too, as it always does.

I remember this was happen to my pp when I had planed the trip and i could not change the plan ticket. So i can feel with you and I hope you can handle all this in a better way then I was able to handle it.

Well let me start off by saying 4 years amazing!!!!! I'm sorry that your plans got ruined. That definitely wouldn't make me happy either. I say pay the fee and go t a different time or like some of these ladies said go and have a mini vacation for yourself.

Wait for mail from him, see what he has to say. Don't automatically assume this is something he did; remember this is a situation where he does not have a lot of control, so always keep an open mind.

It really is too bad that they will not allow you to visit at all.... it may have brought some clarity to have the chance to talk face to face.

In this case you may want to take the airfare loss and not spend more on hotels and rental car and try again at a later time?

I have visited my guy while he was in the hole. And no, he does not go there often, we've been together 5 years. It was a real stupid incident which he later won a grievance over. That did not give us back all the hours of visit we would have had otherwise of course.
Most importantly, I shall never forget his face when they brought him out to visit. For him to see that I was there regardless, that I would listen to what he had to say, and support him in filing that grievance. It was just one of those moments that further cemented out relationship. And therefor at least as valuable as having had 4 times that amount of time.

Well, I got the 6 page letter yesterday....he got caught with 1 oz of Pot...unbelieveable the punishment is so intense in there when out on the streets they are legally selling it! Atleast he didn't get into a fight and kill someone (which happend almost 10 yrs ago) ANyway, from what I was told in his letter a woman CO brought it in for him to sell. He's got so much pressure on his shoulder he was just trying to make some money and pot sells for a lot in there. SO whatever, the CO was fired and he's in the hole for 6mos. Atleast I know now what happened.

We found an attorney to take his case and his retainer was $2500 so he wanted to try and make some of that money in there to send me. He does try, but this time he got caught. I guess it could have been worse, so I'm ok with it now. Six months will go bye fast and I'll go see him for Christmas....(PS NO, I did't ask what he was doing for the female co to get the pot, but that's on my list...) ummm, but I really don't think so, but it's on my mind. Being in there for 22yrs, I can say, I wouldn't blame him.... Anyway, that's the story...and my story for the next 6 months. No phone calls are the worse!! Now, back to writing letters...uggg

Glad you got some answers, but oh wow indeed.
If it was me, I would blame him. I would think he'd be wanting to come too after 22 years and not mess up with catching a case like that.
