On Sunday May 20th my husband had his throat sliced in a altercation and was given a helicopter ride to th hospital with serious injuries. While he was being treated they did an inventory of his cell and he had a TV he purchased off another inmate he is now being charged with theft. He has been sent to SMU1 along with the guy who trie to kill him, Here is the topper it was 8 days before I found out he had be near death.

OMG, I am sooooo sorry you are going through this. I hate the DOC, more and more every day!

What is most important is...that your loved one is OK. Of course, what IS "OK". To be blatantly attacked and have your throat slit is horrendous. I can't even imagine what you are going through right now....or your loved one.

This is also a good example of WHY, our boys should NEVER ever buy anything off the yard. It's insane that he is being charged with theft...and even more insane that he is heading to SMU, where his attacker is being housed. OMG!!

Yes, I had just talked to him literally 15 minutes before this happened. He's told me for years.........prison can change or take your life in a split second.

so incredibly sorry you are living what must be all of our worst nightmares, or at least close to it. thank god he survived such a horrible attack. try to focus on that part....he survived. all the rest can be overcome.
what i find hard to believe is that no one notified you that he was taken to the hospital......what does it take for doc to notify families?? never mind....don't even want to think about the answer to that one.
hang in there....you'll make it through this.

I strongly urge you to contact the warden at the SMU immediately and also reach out to prisoner advocates - Donna Hamm is the only name I can think of. Placing your loved one in the same vicinity of his attacker is very dangerous and just plain stupid. He is at increased risk of another attack from another inmate or the same inmate. SMU and any other so called secure unit is mis-leading. He can be harmed by his cellie or someone else that wants to earn a little money or goods. He needs to be moved far away from this person and he can also refuse to house with this guy, too. Do something, all that you can to help him now.

Your LO needs to request a "do not house with" and I agree you need to call someone and voice your concerns.
