Yes I believe he got way too much time for what he did. 7-14 years and where we live their trying to get rid of parole and no good time. Sheesh now I have to wait atleast 3 more years. For aggravated assault. Thanks pa for being so tough on crime -__-

Hopefully! I know a guy that is doing a 40 year aggrivated sentence for murdering a 6 week old baby. And in that prospective yes I do think it was a little excessive. But then again this is Texas.

my baby got 15 yrs for aggravated assault and the evidence proved he did not commit the crime.. but as you said this is Texas..

The way i feel as far as sentences for crime are way to harsh an don't add up but if you do the crime you have to do the time but in some cases the time is harsh and it don't add up to the crime that has been committed. In conclusion, i thing sentences are way too harsh for some crime

Default Life Forever Changed Over Prescription Pills!!!

My 22 year old son was set up by a CI who bought 20 of his prescription pills on surveillance. Before this charge, he had never been in trouble for drugs or had any felony charges!! He was facing 25 years according to the mandatory sentencing laws in Florida, but the State seemed to think they gave him a deal and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by 10 years of probation and $100,000 fine. Now...had he snitched on someone else I'm sure he would have gotten a slap on the wrist...REALLY!!! We are trying to stay positive but it really makes me upset that people are getting less time for killings, bank robberies, manslaughter, etc. Please keep us in your prayer!!

Yes and no. I know someone with the same exact charges got 1 to 3. My man gets 8-10 for the same charge. However it's his second bid and went in front if a judge who has sentenced him numerous times so they didn't go easy in him.

No, he got very lucky. He got charged with organized fraud over $50,000 and got 12 months and one day. We paid back some restitution and he got his sentenced reduced. The judge ended up giving him time served because he has to go back to immigration now and get deported.

Oh yes California has all these enhancements that they tack on to the original sentence. All together he got 15. Plus they ran his time consecutive.

All it takes is someone to blame and name you and you go away for a long time. My father is half way through a 17 year sentence for conspiracy. And it's federal, so no parole. All they have to do is convince a jury that the accused would do the crime, but no evidence is needed. Just present a convincing argument and pay off witnesses. Puzzling, Indeed!

I believe he got a harsh sentence because similiar and worse cases in the same county get less time. That is why we are appealing it. Wish us luck.

I completely understand. My son was done by a CI too. Received (2) 20 yrs sentenced, 10 suspended & 10 to serve to run concurrent. All for 3 pills for $20 and another 7 pills for $50 to the same CI (who was supposed to be a "friend").
Yes, he did wrong and yes he should have been punished BUT his sentencing is ridiculous.

Absolutely!!!! Makes me sooooo mad!!!! He was set up for almost two years... never did anything with guns before this....they would call him asking for guns so he would find a seller.... take the buyer to the seller so he never actually had them in possesion, was just basically the "middle man".. didn't even really make money on it in my oppinion....so in this time frame they got him for 9 guns and amunition....made him out to be this big time gun trafficer..which in my mind if he was they would have gotten a lot more out of him..the judge pretty much came out and said that he wanted to make an example out of him....then they charged him with "knowing they were gonna be used in a criminal act" and "them telling him they were gonna be used in a criminal asct" which is the same thing to me..... so he got 10 yrs.....I think its BS!! =(

Yes He did get too harsh of a sentence! LWOP for a $50.00 robbery, noone hurt,no damage,no firearm. He was charged as a habitual with a prior release less than a year b4.He had a pocket knife....florida has the 10/20/life law....and they considered the knife as a lethal weapon. Hes contacted a lawyer and she thinks he can get it reduced/or time served.Just gotta get 5 grand up to start. *sighs* I need to win the lottery or somethin!
