Default Guards threw away everything

Hi I'm new to this site so if this thread might exist already I apologize for just adding to the massive pile of threads. My twin daughters father has been locked up over 7 years and we fell off the first 4. I finally did get back in touch with him and I sent him lord knows how many pictures of our daughters to catch him up through all the years. His mother called me today with horrible news stated she went to visit him on Saturday June 16 and not only could she tell that he had been beat up multiple times he was dirty couldn't even eat the food she bought him during the visit and couldn't even open his soda. He told her that the gaurds had thrown away all of his legal paperwork but the main thing that had him the most upset was that they had thrown away ALL of his pictures as well...this is all he has this is the only kind of connection and thing he looks forward to is pictures of our daughters and their letters.

I honestly don't know where to begin...his mom already went off on the warden and got him moved to another prison but there has to be more I can do, although he is in for life he still has some rights and what they did is not only morally wrong but I know there has to be some legal action I could possibly take? If anyone has been through this or could at least give some advice, I would truly appreciate anything.

Last but not least I JUST sent more pictures and letters to him on June 16 and have a feeling he won't be getting what I took so much time and love into delivering to him. This is beyond making me

First, welcome to PTO. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. What an awful thing to happen to your LO.

I'm going to move your post to the "Federal General Prison Talk" forum where I think you'll get some fast and hopefully helpful responses.

Hugs to you and your family.

Hello Jolygem, welcome to PTO.

You do not say if your childrens father is incarcerated in Texas, if so, which unit is he in, if you do not mind saying.

What happened to him is so wrong, wonder what the story is behind that happening?
If he did nothing to warrent it, I really do not see that it could be right in any way.

Could you possibly get the full story from him, so you will know if there is a course of actions to take?

A prisoner's legal services organization in the state where he is imprisoned would be a good place to start.

You don't say what state he's in, but you can google "prisoner's legal services" for the state he is now in, or the state where this happened.

If he's in federal custody, he can file a grievance but I doubt that will get him anywhere. I'm not sure what he can do. You can file a complaint with the Inspector General's Office regarding mistreatment but it might just make things worse for him. It'll be the guards' word against his. There is also no way for you to know what the whole story is. He's the one who has to decide whether to take some kind of action through a complaint process. He might just need to keep his head down at the new place and go on from there.
