Question Are there really drugs in jail?

My man has been really insane lately, almost as bad as when he would be paranoid from smoking crack. I always thought his craziness was caused from drugs...and now maybe he is just crzy? One of my friends says maybe he is using drugs in there....all he has talked about the hole time he has been in there after he got cleaned...is that he will never do drugs again...he talks all the time about how horrible drugs are and how he knows finally that drugs will ruin his life forever...he hit that rock bottom but why is he so insane.....is it jail drugs....and are they afforadable...im sad stressed and worried...

I can't answer the question of what is going on with your man, but yes, there are drugs in jail and prison. The stuff that is found on the streets can most likely be found on the inside as well for the right price.

I've worked in both jail and prison and yes there are drugs, way more than you would ever think. They are very expensive. They work them out in trade, money or (ew) sex. But he may not be using inside. It is possible that he is going through DT's (detox). Sometimes they can even experience psychotic breaks from DT's. You should call the jail he is in and ask to speak to medical and explain how he is acting. DT's should not go unattended. They can give him non addicting meds to help with it.

There are a lot of different possibilities...

*He is using drugs.

*A lot of people turn to drugs as a way to self medicate mental illness. It is possible that now that he is clean underlying mental illness may be coming out to the surface.

*Drug use stunted his emotional development so he is not able to deal with things in a mature way.

*he wants extra attention

Yeah he should have detoxed by now. Bi polar could be an option because drug use does through your chemical balance off. Either way it sounds like he needs to see someone in mental health (I don't mean that in a bad way). Could be he is just now seeing how far he has fallen now that he is sober and is having so many mixed feelings about it that it's causing him to panic. Praying for you both!

LOL, it is possible that he is crazy!

Hell yes, there are drugs in prison....I do not know of one that does not have them......If he starts asking for more money, or acting as if he is being sketchy and suspicious...I would speak up if I were you and nip it in the bud.

Maybe he is dealing with the effects the drugs have had on his brain cells? It is hard to tell what is really going on with him, but I hope you are able to get to the bottom of his neurosis.

Peace~

My hubby said there were more drugs in prison than on the street. They are very expensive from what I understood.

Yes, there is. If they're desperate, they will find a way to get their hands on them, even having sex

There are more drugs in prison than there are on the streets, I swear. When I was working in there I saw more dope busts than I saw at home! Drugs are responsible for most of the attacks and murders in prison, due to debt. Drugs are responsible for the control the prison gangs have within the system, and drugs are an extra paycheck for some dirty staff....not staff bashing, just fact.

If your man wants to stay sober, he will. If not, he won't. It boils down to how committed he is to his sobriety, and I hope that it works out.

Be Blessed

Yes there are more drugs in there than it is on the street.Like others have said they are not cheap but they can be gotten very easily.Just like out here on the streets people want that extra money to send home or just to get by with.Officers get money either mailed or given to them to bring them in on a daily basis. Some camps have inmates going out to work and have the stuff dropped off to them outside the prison and sneak it in to sell or abuse themselves.I was an inmate myself at one time and no I didn't use while in there but it was all around me either way.I had enough will power to leave it alone.

Heck yes and I found it is better not to know how they got them in there. Sometimes there are some pretty disgusting measures taken to get it in there, nothing I want to think about putting my lips on or sniffing up my nose...

In my opinion, 200 bucks is way to fricken much a month. I would never send my fiance that much, hell, I don't send him anything.

He shouldn't be asking for more, because the amount you are sending him is more than enough.

Good luck with all of this.

Peace~

Hey! The line that stuck out to me is "he makes sure its put in." Sounds like he has a set income and he know what he's expecting so hypothetically.. He could be getting drugs fronted to him and he needs the money put in cause he knows he has debts! That's just me thinking, in no way trying to be negative... You did say he had a big drug problem.. And like some ladies mentioned its really easy to get it on the inside.. I would test him..tell him you can't send as much your gonna be short and see if he just gets demanding and says he NEEDS it.. Good luck and drugs or no drugs I hope he gets better!!

our son just got sent to STOP facility in plainfield indiana, and he is a drug addict, that is what sent him to prison a year ago. He says now that he needs 200 dollars to get boots and clothes, we are worried about sending it if drugs are so available in prison. Could someone please advise us , do they really need this much? thank you for any help you can give and may God bless all

If he is asking for money as a one time deal for shoes and clothes that is not anything unusual. If he asks for it regulary, then there could be a problem.

Call the facility direct and ask them if you feel you need to know the prices of what he needs to buy.

I would definitely call the facility and see if that is true! There might be a way for you to order them for him if he really does need them!!

At my loved one's prison there are drugs galore! As well as cell phones, sex etc etc He is more likely to be tempted in prison than on the street. At least on the street he can walk away.
Please stop the money and see what happens. Your hubby needs to get off the drugs, alcohol or whatever he is on. Having such a big chunk of money can be dangerous if other inmates kinow about it and where my LO is.....they seem to know exactly how much each inmate gets in $$$$. Prison is not for the weak.
Best to you.
