If you add up the cost of EVERYTHING (cell phone, landline, sending money, etc) how much do you spend on phone calls in the average month.

Also please include a breakdown.

Example:
$40 on cell phone
$20 on landline
$40 on minutes for prisoner

total $100/month

(Since I'm not working at the moment, I have ample amount of time to talk on the phone with him... sometimes it gets a little out of hand lol.)

Right now, I'm spending about $400/month for his prison minutes. I have him on my free call list for my phone (Verizon friends and family list), so that doesn't cost anything, and I use Google Voice for a free local number, making our calls 12 cents/minute instead of the long distance 18.

So all I pay for is the prison minutes.

For all those participating in this discussion please remember that some ways in which calls are handled are illegal. Policy reminder:

• Illegal Activities:
Threads/replies encouraging illegal/unethical action (like “The best way to kill the neighbor’s dog” or "Have you had sex during a visit?"), or more importantly, anything relating to compromising the security of prisons and institutions (ETC) will not be allowed. Posts such as these will be deleted and may lead to you losing your posting privileges. This policy extends to profiles, avatars, etc., as well. PTO's policy on illegal activities also extends to references of gang activity, as gang activity is illegal (and especially in the prison systems). If you are affiliated with a gang and have a loved one in prison, you are certainly still welcome at PTO, but no reference to such affiliations in posts, profile, avatar, etc. is allowed.

I spend $30 on my land line each month. I send him about $200 for his every day stuff. And on phone calls. It's a ridiculous amount probably in the area of between $300-400 a month! We talk normally twice a day, if not more, and it's just over $6 a call.

I spend about $80 a month or so. Every 2 weeks I put like $40 on there. It usually doesn't last the whole 2 weeks though, so sometimes we go without a call or 2. It's around $9 per 30 minute call but we usually only get 10 minutes so it's around $5 per call. But sometimes the phone will get shut off halfway through our call so he calls back and we gotta pay the connection fee again. I'd pay whatever I had to just to talk to him though!

For landline I think its $25 idk don't remember I have triple bundle....

Then for his calls about 170+ a week..! Yes week..

Mine isn't too bad...I only have the landline hooked up and it's about $25.00 a month... ( sometimes more cas we talk longer lol) I put 50.00 on every 2 months!

I spend a 100 a month for prepaid calls through gtc to my cellphone . Its 1.29 for each 15 minute call.

Well, I'm not counting the cost of my cellphone because I would pay for that regardless. Otherwise, I spend between $75 and $100 a month on prepaid phone calls through GTL, depending on what I have available. I also send $50 a month to his commissary, though I am not for the month of July because he told me not to.

I spend about 200-250 on the cell phone for both minutes and the phone itself. I send him about 100 a month for his commissary etc.

I've allotted funding for 2 phone calls per week. Each call is 30 minutes and sometimes we talk an hour if the convo is really, really good. Most times we don't. Each call is $6.50. And I have yet to receive 8 phone calls each month. So I'd say I spend ruffly $60 per month.

I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one!!!! And I am also saving money right now because he's under investigation for something that happened a few weeks ago. So no calls or visits even though he's done nothing wrong. And damn I miss his face and his voice

Call it crazy, let his mom get p-oed I really dont care. I spend between 75 and 150 a week just on the phone. Nobody else pays my bills. I'm the one working my tail off to make the money. So I feel if I want to "waste" it on talking to D that's my choice. I also put 50 on his books every other week and 25 the others. What I don't get is other ppl (family, friends) expecting me to have to validate to them what I do with my money in terms of him.

OK are you ladies ready for this one? I kid you not,,, I printed out the bill the other day and almost fell out of my chair,,,,,, my husband went to county on april 24th, he was released to crtc on the 29th of June,, I spent,,, drum roll please, $1245.00 on the phone,,, its prepaid, and the calls are $6.70 for a 45 minute call........ somehow (no God) made it possible....... I had friends put money on the phone, my mother, and myself. God kept the phone lines open the entire time except for one week that it was down for 3 days, but that was 3 days that i needed to not stress and it did me some kind of good, I thought i was losing my mind at times wondering how i was going to put another $50 on the phone,,, this is no joke ladies.............

He won't let me spend money on him, so I don't pay for anything. He spends somewhere between twenty and forty dollars a month calling me, because he has to prepay, but that's all about all.

I spend 25.00 a month and calls are 62 cents we talk once every morning or if things are strapped money wise and we need it to stretch we will talk every four days..I just put money on the acct. two days ago and the last time I made a payment was May 5th..so not bad at all!!!

I put $126 on the securus phone every month. That is enough for a call every day and two on Saturday and Sundays. The phone calls are $3.21 each, oh and there is a $6.95 fee to pay them (??)so I guess I actually pay $132.95 a month. Very expensive!! I wish I could get a call for the $.62 that someone else had, or even the $1.29. I did not include the price for my cell phone because I would pay that anyway and I don't have a land line. I changed my phone number to a local to him number when he first got extradited so I don't have to pay long distance fees.

I won't go into details but I spend $20 a month for unlimited. I know it's not right but it's what works.

I did not vote because I just put 100 on his phone account and that usually last a few months. Now that we are paying by the minute, we talk less for the same price, which sucks, but it is what it is.

My BF's in federal so he's only allowed 300 call minutes a month. Not sure how much it costs but I send him on average $150 a month which is for phone, emails and then whatever else he wants to put it on.

It varies from month to month. some months $25 and the most that I have spent was $200.00. The average is $100.00 for telephone calls. I rarely send him money. Maybe 4 times during his whole bid and he really needed something and I wanted to nd it or I just send it because I wanted to. He doesn't really ask for much.
