Lightbulb Why did they draw his blood?

He hasn't been sick, and he can't see parole till May. I know they normally do blood work when they are on their way out. He's a line three, so he's not on his way out.

When is his PRD? One can be released to mandatory supervision at any line class level so if his PRD is nearing then they would schedule exit bloodwork even without a vote by the parole board. Absent that I can't guess why they would draw blood after the intake process outside of a medical reason.

Exit blood work must be done within 6 months of PRD.

He is allowed to ask why... Just saying perhaps he should try it.

Then it's not that. If he has filed the HIPAA medical release of information form for you then you might try just calling medical at the unit (talk to the practice manager) and asking them. With there being no apparent pre-release reason for drawing blood it leaves only some medical reason which, with the release of information form in place, should place the subject within what the practice manager can talk to you about.

Cholesterol testing? That should be done periodically. My husband is diabetic; they draw blood every three months routinely.

My understanding is a CODIS draw can take place at any time and is not limited to the six-month window prior to a potential release...without knowing the complete history as it appears on TCIC/NCIC, this very well could have been a case of the unit catching up on their CODIS compliance.

Thanks ...all. I don't believe it's cholesterol testing. He isn't diabetic.
