Exclamation Phillippines - Comment on poor judicial system (quadraplegic found guilty of rape!)

I found this story and wanted to share it with you, as I think it is utterly beyond belief!
I'm going to try to track down the address of this man and see if I can't send him a card for support.
What a terrible situation!

Rach

----------------------------------

JUDGE Andres B. Soriano of the Bulacan Regional Trial Court in Malolos will probably go down in history as the judge who convicted a completely crippled man for rape.
His decision can even make it to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Ronaldo “Jeff” Quesada, 33, a quadriplegic, was sentenced to life imprisonment. A quadriplegic is somebody who can’t move his hands and feet.
Quesada can’t even answer the call of nature without being carried to the toilet by at least two men. He weighs 150 lbs.
Since he can’t move his hands and feet, Jeff has difficulty crawling on his stomach.
So, how could he have mounted the complainant, who was 16 years old at the time of the alleged rape, and who Jeff claims was his girlfriend? The complainant is now 19 years old.
But how could there be penetration since Jeff can’t move his upper and lower extremities?

I was reading up on Spinal Cord Injuries and found that A male with an SCI can achieve an erection but most have a problem maintaining one without help. So who gave him an erection in the first place, and did they tie a piece of string around the penis to constrict the blood flow in order for him to maintain it. I am mean this is an honest question.

I also found this :

Male Sexual Function After SCI

For males, the situation of sexual functioning is a little more complicated. Some men are able to achieve erections quite easily, while others can achieve erections occasionally and some are unable to achieve erections at all after a SCI. Two basic kinds of erections are possible. Psychogenic (the kind of erection that occurs as a result of having sexy thoughts or by looking at erotic pictures) and reflexogenic (erections that occur as a result of direct physical stimulation of the penis or surrounding area).

There are several ways to achieve an erection after SCI. Vacuum-Induced Erections employ tubes with a vacuum pump that, when placed over the penis and activated, pulls the air out of the tube often causing blood to inflate the penis. A band is then placed around the base of the penis to maintain erection. Most urologists suggest this method as a first step as it is the least invasive of the available procedures. Another option is the Injected Vasoactive Drug. A very fine needle is used prior to sexual activity to inject a prescribed dosage of medication into the base of the penis. The extremely fine needle causes little or no discomfort. The drug causes the blood vessels in the penis to enlarge, thereby stimulating an erection that can last from 15 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the dosage injected. Some potential side effects include bruises and erection for a dangerously long period of time. The cost per injection can range from $10 to $20 depending on the medication used, and insurance coverage may be available.

Penile Implants, or penile prostheses are sometimes considered. This procedure is extremely invasive as it involves surgical implantation of a rod or an inflatable tube into the penis. Inflatable implants have several chambers that are filled with fluid to achieve erection and are then emptied following intercourse. The pump, chambers to be filled with fluid, and connecting tubes are all implanted. Semi-rigid implants consist of two implants made of a flexible material that causes a permanent rigid state. The penis can be bent against the pelvis when not engaged in intercourse

Frankly I am still in shock about this. Are they giving him the necessary medical attention. Are they turning him often enough to ensure he does not get pressure sores? Argh this just does not make sense.

Good day!

I am a law student in San Beda College of Law, and being a law student i know something about this case, this was even shown in "BITAG" attacking Judge Andy, to tell you the truth, this case was appealed in our Court of Appeals and this court confirmed the decision made by Judge Andy Soriano, a female Justice decided to confirm the decision because they have reasons for doing so. I only you knew the "whole" facts about the case, you would have agreed with the judge's decision.

Too shocking so I had to look this up.

This article gives a lot more detail on how he could have done it.

The previous poster does have me wondering what facts could make this seem like a fair decision.
I don't know that it has to do with this case but sometimes they get tried for behavior that happened before they became quadriplegic.
