I'm not sure of what crime he was convicted but thank your lucky stars for that one year. The guidelines and sentencing caps in that hell hole are RI-DIC-U-LOUS!!!

In the meantime, there should be a healthcare hardship motion that you could file in the sentencing court that will allow him to some home so that he can be properly care for, isn't it?

I DID see that article. Louisiana is also at the top of the Federal government's list of Most Miserable state to live in. It's a wonder why anyone lives there. And I'm not just speaking from the legal standpoint, but PERIOD. Ugh!!! This shit can't be over fast enough.

CIO, I hear you! I can't even begin to fathom "time" with this! My boy says it feels like time is passing fast in prison, because he's so busy! On the other hand, he says the trial seems to have happened a long, long time ago! Bless his heart.

Be grateful your son has something to occupy his time. My husband has been begging the people where he is located to give him a job, and they won't. That makes time for him pass incredibly slow.

Is it due to being in a parish, or state facility? Or Federal? Son is in a medium to low facility. A big dorm with 50-75 others. Hasn't your LO been in awhile? I thought if time server, and you were good/behaved, you would get a job? I worry, that my kid has talents in some of the things they need...for free, in jail! Keep him as long as possible! Free labor!

Maybe I'm all wrong...I don't know. What do you think is the reason hubby hasn't been given a job?

Same for my fiancée.. And she has been in the same facility for a year and 7 months now.

And yet, short timers come in and gets jobs easily.

I know, Chris and LT. I spoke to my son tonight, that there are so many others who want a job badly! I'm hoping it means that someone knows he's innocent, and are helping. I don't know. I do know, that he's aware that he's lucky. I feel even more badly, when I hear the horror stories on here! I'm not sure this experience won't make three new activists for prison out out of us! La. Just has such "obvious" problems! ie. the NO newspaper reports for good example!

Hey guys, has the newspaper articles, Picyune, made any waves of consequence in La? They were powerful pieces!

Truth be told, the parish facilities don't have a whole lot for any inmate to do. So, they have a tendency to give the few jobs that they have to short term offenders and those that are in for minor offenses.

Well, Hon, that sure isn't MY boy! He's in for a violent (yeah, right!) offence, sexually related, and has 5yrs before chance of parole! I'm hoping this means someone thinks his appeal will work.....hope! Hope!
