Hey ladies....does anyone know if B-yard Hispanics are off lockdown for this weekend?? I wish the 800 visiting hotline number would update everyday! I usually get a hotel room for the weekend and want to make reservations but I'm not sure if they are still on lockdown I missed visit last weekend because they went on lockdown friday. If anyone has info please let me know. Thanks!

So TOMORROW is the big day for me; My first ever visit. I have a few questions regarding what you can and cannot bring:

1- I am told lipsticks are not allowed? how do you ladies deal with having smeared lipstick and not be able to fix that ??

2- Is chewing gum or breath mint allowed?

3- If not allowed, do they sell it there in the vending machines?

4- I think you are allowed to bring some photos to show inmate, correct? How many and how large? I understand you cannot leave them with inmate, you have to take them back with you when you leave.

5- In the same fashion, are we allowed to bring print outs? Say articles from the internet?

6- Do they provide pen and paper if you wanted to write something down?

7- Do they have board games? (like scrabble for ex)

Well, I am nervous and excited and nervous and nervous LOL (mostly nervous)... This will be my first time in a state penitentiary and my first time visiting my mwi. I think he must be a nervous wreck too, cause it's his first visit ever in 12 years!! I hope I got all the visiting rules down (did get $40 in one dollar bills and $10 in quarters - for photos), did get my little unopened pack of tissue and a clear plastic bag. I am styling HAHA!!

Still agonizing COMPLETELY over what to wear. Afterall it is his first time seeing me in the flesh... And I can't even look my best for him cause of all the retarded rules ... Hopefully I will not look too frumpy ...

Here waiting in line to get into prison parking lot. Woke up at 3AM got here at 6AM. Only about 10 cars in front of me ). So far so good. They open gates in one minute I am told . A bit tired, with only 3 hours of sleep, but happy.

Why is there no change machine here?? Every other prison I have been to has change machine. This prison is so backwards. Making people wait in sun to make it into visiting room?? So awful here. I've been here since 830 and it's 10:45, still waiting to get into visiting processing area.

If u go super early, u don't run into that problem. Sat i was in line at 6am. Sunday i tried getting there at 7:30am. It was an expetiment to
Compare outcome. My arriving later resulted in an hour and a half extra wait to go into visitor area and no more fresh fruits in vending machine. However i waited 30 min less to enter prison ground in my car. Overall, it is best to get up at 3am and getctgere super early. Tgats my plan from now on. What can I say, I'm hard core HAHA!! Tge bottom line is that I waited 4.5 hours in misc lines to see him for 90 minutes. I must really like him a lot .

Is there any weekend of the month that is more or less crowded? Is Saturday better than Sunday or vice versa? Even if I drive 6 hrs I can still get terminated... Just sucks

So far Sundays and Sat have been the same, crowd wise. I have been first person to enter visiting room for B yard this last week-end bot Sat and Sun. Hispanics being on lockdown, we were able to have a full day's worth of visiting !!!!!!!! I am going back Wednesday for the 4rth so i'll report to let you know how crowded it is (or is not) on Holidays.

By now I have that visiting ritual down to a science.

WARNING: If you line up early, the line moves twice. Once at 7:30AM and once again at 8AM.

At 7:30 it only moves by a hundred feet or so but you have to be VERY CAREFUL because this last week-end there has been some a-holes that have cut in front of everyone else at 7:30 when the line stretched.

SO BE ON YOUR GUARD AND BE READY TO MOVE FORWARD, ENGINE RUNNING, FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AT 7:25.

Furthermore IF someone cuts the line in front of you, then report them immediately to the gate person. Walk out of your car, note the license plate number make and color of car and walk that info on a piece of paper to gate person. the line never moves between 7:30 and 8:00 so you have plenty of time to walk up to gate and hand info. the gate CO will "have a talk" with that person when they pull up at gate.

Above were the instructions I received from gate guard when this happened to me Saturday. Another lady had the same thing happen to her on Sunday.

So be aware that the CDCR has rules against cutting lines and that they will take action against those who cut lines.

OTHER RULES TO BE AWARE OF:

Also be aware that smoking is strictly forbidden in parking lot of prison, even inside your car, even with windows rolled up.

Also Taking souvenir pics, outside the prison, even of the most innocent kind, are also a huge NO NO. I found that out the hard way the first time I visited and let us just say it was an "unpleasant" experience for the rookie I was/am.

Also cell phone must stay in your car and even there they are not "legal" so don't use them at all, basically best to turn off and put all cells away in glove box before you pull up at the gate. I was told they are "tolerated" as a possession to have in your car because the COs understand we cannot be on the road without a phone in case of emergency etc. That said, the cells are not legal to use and so you got to keep them turned off and inside car.

Also no gums allowed past the metal detector.

Also no food or drinks you buy while visiting can make it past the metal detector on the way out. Drink or eat it before you reach that detector cause it will be thrown away there.

Also as of end of July bus shuttles from visiting center to blocks will no longer be available, so plan to WALK.

If I learn of any other "unwriten" rules or new developments, I will post them here.

I think I would mention it to the Co inside visiting room, he might not terminate you as quick if you drive that far. Likewise if it is your first visit, mention it to him and he will probably let you stay the entire day the first time. I know he did for us the first time.

OK I went, and it was about as busy as a Sunday, maybe a tad less. We were asked to give our table up after an hour and 45 min. Our B yard visiting room has lost its patio area, because the fence is lacking some barbed wire and it appears they cannot afford to add some cause I think it has been this way for a while now? At any rate, we lost all the tables / space that are outside and that means less tables for visits and that means shorter visits for everyone. Also, out of 3 microwaves, only 1 is (sorta) working, so the line to heat up any food is long. When your 90 min visits loses 20 minutes to the microwave, it is time to go on a diet LOL.

Wednesday him and I didn't even bother to eat lunch together. Sunday I bought 2 chicken dishes ($12 total) and as soon as I had heated them up the CO asked for our table, we had to throw all the food away.

So Wednesday I just got him a fruit bowl, and we ate that while talking.

They really need to get a couple extra microwaves. And barbed wire.

According to Title 15 rules, if you drive more than 250 miles one way to visit, and you haven't been there for 30 days, your visit cannot be terminated. And that holds true if you go for a weekend and visit both days. Title 15 section 3176(9)(A)

You're welcome. We haven't been there in almost 3 years but I can see nothing has changed! Print a copy of the Title 15 section and bring it with you. When they tried to terminate me and I brought this up they acted like they had never heard of any such thing!

If he just got there he's probably in ad seg waiting on a bed. Part of A yard is an honor yard but part is ad seg... My guy was there for about 12 days waiting to get a bed. Means visits behind glass.

I have a small dermal piercing on my wrist I saw someone post that if you can cover it you'll b fine to visit because i know they don't allow body piercing.. Does anyone know if it would set off the metal detector and if the bra hooks set them off as well do you really have to take the bra hooks off ur bras?

I know any metal set off the detector when my guy was in Tracy I found a bra that has plastic hooks or the ones that hook in the front and just remove the underwire. I'm not sure about this visiting room it's my first time at LAC this weekend.

My bra has metal hooks in back but it's a non underwire... I get thru fine. I have no idea about appt's cause I never had to make one. I don't know about piercing's either. When my guy was in A in ad seg there were no phone calls. If u call records they can tell u what yard he's on and what is procedure for visiting.
