Default San Saba Texas Prison Unit Info?

Is there any recent info on this unit? He got there today and I can't figure out if this is a transfer unit also because he was told he's going to Mineral Wells...

Hey there! It's an educational unit, my guy has been there since August and is currently waiting on his S2 to hopefully get approved so he can transfer. It's a decent unit, better than the last...only about 28 guys there as well

San Saba is a transfer facility. He can move out at any time. It is a small unit. It does have more than 28 guys there. Approximately a 600 man unit. They do offer college classes. My husband has been there about a year and a half. It's an I'm unit. My husband made his S2 a couple of months ago. He is hoping he gets moved soon. The inmates there are all younger. He is 33 and one of the older ones lol.

I been trying to get info about San Saba Unit and havent found anything that too recent until this post, can any one give me more info regarding San Saba? My hubby just got placee there less than a week ago he said it's a college unit and only certain inmates get placed there due to test scores, my main question is since he got place there n will be taking classes is it possible that he might stay there for a while? San Saba is close to me so it would be nice if he stayed there, at least longer than the other unit he was at which has just for 4months

Here is what the TDCJ website says about the place: San Saba Unit. I don't have any personal experience with the place, but if it's close to you, that's great! Good luck!

They do offer college classes. My husband husband has been there about a year and a half. He has seen some guys only stay a couple months. The most they can stay is two years because it is a transfer facility. I would be happy to answer any other questions you might have if I can. I hope my husband gets moved soon though. I wish he would get transferred closer to home.

Anyone know if there's any issues w/ the phones at San Saba? last time i heard from my hubby was tuesday afternoon and he was suppose to call later that night and nothing and then all day yestersday no call and still no calls from him. I'm getting worried. I checked the securus acct and it's clear i even made an additional payment just in case and there's still minutes left so i dont know what else can be going on. He always calls even if we dont talk or even when im at work. So it cant be that he isnt calling just because... I guess if i dont hear from him at all today i'll call the unit to see if i can get some information

Even thought it is considered a transfer facility, he can stay there up to two years.

There is a really nice little city park there. Otherwise pretty much nothing else. It is a very small town.

My LO just got to San Saba. He doesn't really like it there, I think he's just ready to come home. One question, by what time should I submit a jpay message for it to get there the same day? I usually try and send them by 10am, today I was a little late.

I think it is 10 am but can't remember for sure I usually wrote them the night before. You can call the unit and ask and they should be able to tell you. My husband left there two weeks ago but was there for almost two years.

Yea, I called up there and the lady in the mail room told me that they try and do it when they go into work at 7:30am... So, I've been real late!
Can anybody tell me how special visits work for this unit?
