Default Intro--cocoluv from Florida

I've been separated from my man for a lil over a yr and we have a lil over 2yrs to go. Because of a messed up federal "system" my man who has every right to be a citizen cannot be. His father, a US citizen, can't produce paperwork from the 70's... so now thank u US Govt. Me and my man will pick up our life, after this term, in Mexico. I'm more scared about the 2yrs(763days to go!!!) without him than I am about leaving the states.

Welcome to Prison Talk. Even if his father can't find his citizenship paperwork from the 70's, the government definitely has copies somewhere. If the paperwork was because your man was born in the US, the hospital, county, or state will have a record that you may be able to locate.

I have no clue about the ICE rules though, so I can't say if finding the old records will help him or not. Good luck.

The problem isn't where he was born it's where his father was 5-10yrs before his birth. He was a migrant farm worker who couldn't keep up with paperwork because of his situation. Any medical info is destroyed after 7 yrs so if he ever actually visited a hospital(which I doubt) would no long exist. 1 document stands between citizenship and deportation it's outrageous!

One other potentially expensive option is to ask an immigration lawyer if there is any reasonable chance for him to avoid deportation. Good luck, and I agree that the way our government goes about deporting a record number of people, more every year, is outrageous.
